The Politico story that an abortion allegation was circulating among Republicans for months doesn’t quite track with what I know about the story I reported. It’s highly, highly possible these are two different allegations.

Well, if there are more kids than he originally fessed up to, then would it be a surprise that there are more abortions than are currently known about? After all, an abortion and Get Well Soon card are much cheaper than raising a kid (if you bother to get involved in that sort of thing).

I doubt that they bet that it wouldn’t come out. I think they bet that if it DID come out that it wouldn’t matter.
A few years back, a local GOP-backed candidate was arrested for domestic abuse shortly after winning an election for city council. He messed up his gf’s face pretty well and lost his job. The local GOP didn’t condemn - they doubled down on their support.
And that event wasn’t singular - it’s a local pattern.
