The absurdity, greed and incompetence surrounding the distribution of coronavirus-era masks has taken me to Chicago, California and, now, Texas. The federal government’s efforts to get protective equipment out quickly to essential workers had failed spectacularly, and the supply chain that normally moves products from producers to vendors to end users had almost completely broken down. Counterfeit masks were flooding the market, and prices for even unreliable masks had skyrocketed.
What about “So much winning”?
What about “our stockpile”?
Did they all magically disappear?
Bet you 10 to 1 this clown in a Republican. IMHO all Republicans are scum.
I favor the latter for this beast; maybe twenty years, or life?

Both would defend their actions as simply cutting through onerous red tape put up by the Chinese and U.S. governments to get masks to those desperate for them.
Ah, yes. Another Libertarian Bro who wants to get rich and also be lauded for being smart enough and bold enough to quickly fix a problem that the government couldn’t.
But, in fact, they were just taking a shortcut that somebody else would pay the price for.
This is why we are in such desperate trouble. This country has been adjusted and designed since its inception for these kind of reptiles. Failure to come down hard on white men grifting has caused the failure of the entire society. Militias and armed white guys are allowed to threaten liberals and non-white people, but if we armed ourselves and went after con men who donate to the GOP we’d have the national guard after us in about 30 seconds.
Inside, a man named Jaime Rivera had set up long tables where five or six other “Taskers” earning about $20 an hour were ripping Chinese masks out of plastic bags and stuffing them into new ones that were identical but for one potentially deadly difference. The old packages were labeled in all caps “MEDICAL USE PROHIBITED,” meaning not to be used by doctors and nurses who need the strongest protection from tiny particles carrying the novel coronavirus. The new bags, intended to make their way to Texas hospitals, simply omitted that warning.
I suggest that that was not the only potentially deadly difference. The new bags contained masks which were, now, filled with masks that had been exposed to unsanitary conditions and likely were thereby pre-infected with coronavirus.
“Repackaging, he said, was the “only solution,” and he had been told other vendors were doing the same. He did not believe that the company broke U.S. laws, but that it probably broke Chinese customs law.”
Taking inferior product A and then repacking it to a better product to hide what the product is a crime last time i checked. Then taking into account that they are putting health care workers lives and everyone else’s at risk… Fines, and jail time.
Or volunteer to donate a kidney, and have the surgical team use only masks and instruments that you supplied. And a cut-rate anaesthetic licensed only for use on cattle.
They would have done it, but they were busier with bigger scams…
George Floyd paid with his life for a single, counterfeit $20 bill. The fake mask fuckers in this story had damned well better get a fair trial at least.
These criminals MUST be prosecuted.
