Harris Predicts Scientists Will Be ‘Muzzled’ Amid Trump Effort To Push Vaccine Before Election | Talking Points Memo

Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris has said she “would not trust” President Donald Trump’s word on the safety of any potential coronavirus vaccine.

Senator Harris is absolutely correct in her assessment. Trump has proved again and again that he cannot be trusted (20,000+ documented lies) and as his former lawyer has asserted, Trump will do anything it takes to get re-elected . . . . and I will assume the this would include endangering American lives.

Completely agree. I will not get a vaccine that is not approved in Europe. CDC has lost all credibility. Furthermore, as states are supposed to be gearing up to administer vaccines, my spouse and I are refusing to volunteer our skills until after the new year. Then, we will work every day to give shots with a vaccine that we can believe in.

Trump may try but I keep thinking of that line from the movie Body Heat: “You know, there must be at least 50 things that could go wrong with a plan like that. If you can think of 25 of them you’re a genius, and you’re no genius.”

The number of ways in which Trump will probably screw up while trying to prematurely push out a vaccine, thus creating a huge national backlash among other catastrophes, is far more than I could ever imagine. The single greatest thing Democrats have going for them this year is Trump’s sheer incompetence.

Sure he’ll try to cheat but Trump has proven repeatedly that he has no ability to hide his cheating.

I really like the way she just puts it out there, simply and without all the fluff and pretension, "I will not take his word for it.” And, “If past is prologue that they will not, they’ll be muzzled, they’ll be suppressed, they will be sidelined,”
Refreshing.

This article in WAPO pretty much proves Harris’ point. Trump is aggressively trying to manipulate the timetable for a vaccine release. This has to be approved scientists who are independent of the Administration. No short cuts. No bending to the political exigencies. Get this right. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-vaccine-election/2020/09/05/c0da86d6-edf5-11ea-99a1-71343d03bc29_story.html

The ‘beauty’ of America, however, is that it has so many moving pieces. Many drug companies will not go along with a rushed approach. Neither will many states. There is too much for a second-rate autocrat like Trump to manage to his liking.

And he is too stupid to realize that.

I don’t find the prediction to be outrageous. Not a bit.

I can’t imagine there will ever be a Trump Presidential Library, with all those lies on full display.

Actually, a Trump Liebrary would be feasible.

But the Fox-bots will line up.

Today I spent a few hours with someone who is a Fox viewer who, when I said my grandkids were homeschooling this year, insisted that the schools needed to re-open, the hospitals were falsifying causes of death, Cuomo was a murderer and it would all be over the day after the election and she was tired of sitting at home unable to have any fun.

Let me make sure you all understand - she is near 70 years old, had a minor heart attack a week ago that hospitalized her briefly and is now on oxygen and her husband had major surgery three weeks ago and is looking for his all clear to go back to reduced duty at work (because he can’t lift).

She quoted the lie, chapter and verse, and pretty much bullied me (demanding three times I ‘answer the question’ about Cuomo and the decision he made), and was very satisfied with herself - wouldn’t hear anything about 180,000 friends and loved ones that had buried their dead and I even accused her of being without compassion (and yes, she is an Evangelical).

It wasn’t my idea to have this discussion (dear hubby, whose friends these are, wasn’t happy about it), considering her cardiac event last week. He finally changed the subject, but she was rarin’ to go more, had she been able to.

We left shortly after.

No wake management from what I saw on video. They helped swamping themselves it looks like. Been years since I was there, but it is windy and twisty and only a few broad areas.

Hopefully all Trump supporters sink…

Hubby, who is a boater here in WI, wonders if the wind kicked this up or if it was boat generated because of the speeds at which they were going.

Lake Travis is notorious for its “idiots” wake problem.

Both likely. Watch the videos, they look like they are compounding their wakes with speed.
