I have to agree somewhat since my younger brother patiently convinced my Trumper cousin to stop being homophobic.
But I simply do not have the social skills or patience that my brother has. I’m proud of him of course but personally, it would have been a waste of my time. Everyone should make their own determination if engaging with Republicans is or is not a sunk cost fallacy.

I had luck in talking around a good conservative blue-collar worker into why insurance mandates were good for him, noting how freeloaders in the system lead to higher premiums and costs for folks who had insurance like him, and that requiring all the freeloaders to purchase insurance would bend the curve in his costs over time.
All in the framing, need to pick the language that resonates. The bleeding-heart stuff about saving lives was never going to reach him, but he sure could understand how them not having insurance affected his wallet.

This is to be expected. The fact that so many of his cult believes him is the problem - it means that 74 million voters and one major political party live in LaLa land and are disconnected from reality.

That has been proven to be the case several times by the news folks. They sit them down, ask them their opinions of each and the same result. Had a friend do the same thing. He finally ended up on the ACA and was thrilled considering his situation. Admitted that he thought they were totally different things. Bet he still went [Individual-1] this last round anyway. Sadly.

My feeling about GOP voters, y’all is this: What would it take for any of y’all to switch and vote GOP? What’s that - you wouldn’t? Well they feel the same way. You might convince one or so of them that they are mistaken about something but that doesn’t translate into voting Democratic. And I don’t think they will in any numbers that would make a difference, Just like we wouldn’t vote GOP even if they showed us that something we believe politically is incorrect.
The biggest voting bloc in the country is Independents. They are worth pursuing, since they lean Democratic anyway.
