Tis but a modest proposal.

You’d think Biden’d include monies for such a proposal in his infrastructure bill, wouldn’t you?
Smokey the Bear wants to know what could be more important!

I think we need to be careful not to treat this lightly. It’s easy to make a joke of the Republicans inability and/or unwillingness to accept truth. If it were just one or two loons, like Gohmert, that would be one thing; but it’s not, it’s almost a majority of Republicans that believe these lies. There is a real danger that their fallacious beliefs will become a rallying cry for future insurrections or to get their people out to vote in the next election. It is not out of the realm of possibility that Trump or someone like him could be elected next time if they continue to peddle these conspiracy theories. After all, if WE honestly believed that the Republicans had stolen an election, wouldn’t we be stirred up? Wouldn’t we turn out in large numbers? I regard this situation as highly dangerous. We need to find ways to dismantle their beliefs and to try to get them back to reality and we need to do it before the next election. Having us repeatedly shout that those are all lies and you’re believing stupid conspiracies is not the right way. It won’t work. Making fun of them won’t work. This is not a theory, this is an observation based on their past behavior. We really need a new approach. I don’t know what that approach is, but we need to find it.

O come on - their families have failed to ‘save them’ and you expect us - the people they don’t believe and basically hate to do something about it? Dream on.

Q: Why do Republicans lie?

A: Because it works.

Next time a Jehovah’s Witness knocks on your door invite them in and convert them to atheism.

Tell us how that swimmingly that went for you.

I get what you’re saying. In response to your detractors, sometimes stuff is hard.

Sometimes it’s fucking impossible.

High speed train networks will obviously only help the coastal cities. What we need is a forestry bill for NEBRASKA FORESTERS (offset by reducing benefits from the farm bill).

So why not just say one sixth. Half a thurd is one sixth. Even the thurd know that. Well… half of 'em - a sixth - do anyway. Right? Why again are people analyzing groups of morons?

The other question is what kind of turnout R’s can manage without their cult leader on the ticket. It’s easy to get discouraged when your side loses, and your Dear Leader is sidelined.

Of course, opposition to Dear Leader drove Dem turnout too in 2020, but I hope that participating on the winning side means enthusiasm for voting will remain high in 2022, to cement the gains.

And the best way to determine whether it is impossible rather than just hard is to give up before you try.

It does, in fact. That’s what the whole butthurt “cancel culture” thing is about.

We merely need to put 100 million people on a leash and fit them with a shock collar.

You are welcome to try to convert the right. Go ahead - you have my blessing.

Half of a rapidly shrinking whole. Republicans are a dying breed.
