I wondered about this, with people asking why vision, hearing, and dental care was excluded from Medicare.
I just thought it was because the American Medical Association, the pre-eminent national organization representing physicians, had a lot of clout and visibility, to a much larger degree than those other professions.
The deepest corruption surrounding the Big Lie was Trump’s weaponization of the Justice Department."
So now we know why far right media went absolutely batshit yesterday with the extremely strained accusation that Biden is politicizing DOJ by having the FBI/DOJ look into all the death threats school board members are receiving around the country. It was like every other article on Faux News. Senate GOPers told them this was coming and they needed to get out in front of the story with wild-eyed bothsiderism conspiracy nonsense.
Here’s the kicker: “And so most people, myself included, do not have a comprehensive understanding or even any understanding of how elections work.”
Sez the guy who’s running WI’s “audit”
OK, I go to my county recorder’s office and register to vote. On election day (or before for mail in) I go to my local polling place and I fill out a ballot and then stuff it in the box. The box is taken to a central place, opened and the contents counted first by hand and then by a tally machine. Results recorded for the governor to certify. That is h0w an election is done. Of course there are laws about security of ballots and chains of custody like most any legal evidence. This guy, being a judge, should know stuff like that.
I still think this guy should be handed a 12th grade Civics textbook, where all this is pretty well explained (even the ones approved by the Texas School Board).
Just turned 65 this summer. I had an ACA gold plan that cost $800 per month in 2021. It still had an $1100 deductible with a max $5200 OOP billed at 70/30. Now on Medicare - the base plan (Part B) is $148.50 per month, the best Medigap through Blue Cross (Plan G, in VT) is $155 per month, and my Part D drug plan is $14.40 per month. The total premium is about $320 per month, the Deductible is about $200 and additional OOP is $0. What a difference!
That said, my husband and I still run up the bills for dental, vision and hearing, none of which are covered through Medicare, and those can run to many thousands of dollars per year (for example, hearing aids are $4000 to $6000 and they last about 5 to 7 years with luck and maintenance.)
The funnest part is going to be watching them steal elections in 2022 and 2024 and being completely powerless to stop it while they screech bloody murder at the rest of us for being hypocrites when we claim they’ve stolen those elections. Then, when they have the power because nothing gets done to stop their stealing, they go hog wild with revenge.
I was eligible for Medicare in May. I took one look at what I was getting and opted to stay on dear Hubby’s policy. It was expensive for what was being offered. And don’t forget - it’s another whole policy to get prescription drug coverage too.
I’ve spent my life hearing about how wonderful Medicare is. Now that I know what Medicare is, it honestly isn’t all that wonderful (especially if one has other options, as I do).
