Why do you think they haven’t done that already? It seems like the most logical thing to do. Which court would it go before?

They have the power, the sargent at arms is armed, and has the same power of the capital police: See 2 U.S. Code § 5605.

And they can deputize anyone (DC Police come to mind) and arrest them, being them to the well of the house. See https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/05/15/house-has-power-arrest-people-who-defy-its-orders/

The problem is not power, but the will to use it.

The current crop of Democrats (counting 40 years back) simply do not have any compelling reason(s) to fight- as a group. We have a few here-and-there, but as a collective; silence is golden. I’m now closer to 70 than…60 and I am just tried.

They tell a Federal employee ( that’s exactly what she is) they need her here Monday, and she tells them to kiss her round ass; "I’ll send somebody else….NEXT WEEK.

If you refused to use the tools in the proverbial tool-box, no use in whining when shit breaks; That- my folks is the Democratic leadership.

Honestly, stop that fat bitch’s access to fried food, pints of Haagan-Dazs, 3-liter bottles of diet coke, and Grubhub; she’ll be ready to turn over whatever, provided her drastic slump in blood glucose permits her to get her fat arse out of her stained, food wrapper laden bed.

Presumably suit would be filed in federal court in D.C. Judge would be chosen by random appointment of the clerk’s office. The bench is almost 3:1 Dem nominees. The only real downside to filing is that you might lose, but I think he’s got a really strong case based on the law and the history of ascertainment. Just lay out all the evidence that Joe should be considered President-elect, then put this butterball turkey in the witness stand to make it clear that she does not have any rational excuse for not performing her goddamn job.

Hoping for the entire issue to be made moot while buying a few more days.

She should just quit and become a planet.

This is a well-reasoned comment but one that is unfair to Butterball turkeys.

The Capitol Police are under the jurisdiction of Congress and can arrest people for defying subpoenas. So, those cops in that jurisdiction.

She’s very busy. At the shredder. Very, very busy.

I can answer this one. It’ll be enforced by the incoming administration if she’s one goddamn minute late.

Hah, “investigate ‘any matter’ at ‘any time’”…
Knock, knock…
And yeah, they’ll definitely need a “broad authority”.

Wow. I’m actually impressed that they did this. I expected them to pull a Neal.

Instead of " keeping options open" why not take immediate action to get her in under oath…why should this be so difficult other than having to rely on Barr’s toy DOJ to get things done here…

What’s the betting that the deputy will be the most obnoxious, college-Republican-group-President, twentysomething Ayn-Rand reader, who will sneeringly ‘educate’ the Congress members that ackshually the election ‘hasn’t been decided yet’.

Yeah, she’s got that tech down, for sure…

And she’s expert with a fork.
