Grassley Says He Was Not ‘Involved In Any Conversations’ About Him Presiding Over Congress On Jan. 6

Trump’s 1/6 problem was that his SS driver refused to drive him to the riot he wanted to continue to lead.

Funny misuse of the language, that. The question-begging is yours. You are assuming a meaning other than the plain English that was spoken. Maybe you should take a refresher course in Subject A English Composition, Berkeley style.

As per the quote, Whut?

“My recollection is that Vice President Pence was supposed to have an accident…errr…appointment that day and would not be available.”

What a crock. In which case he does not belong in the Senate, despite hewing to the GOP SOP of lying one’s ass off. For that matter, all the liars need to go. In my dreams…sigh.

Or if he really believes what he said, that kind of memory loss also says he doesn’t belong in the Senate. Alas, the same for Feinstein, though she unfortunately needs to stay because if she leaves, the GOP has already promised that they will not allow another Democrat to be seated on the Judiciary Committee, and will block all judicial appointments until at least January 2025. And, sadly, the possibility of her being physically able to stay that long are probably nil. A sorrowful end to a brilliant career.

Power politics, gerrymandering, and abusing the rules all stink; their only purpose is to subvert democracy. Power indeed corrupts.

Wrong.

That is not what he said. Learn to read.

I tooked at the plain reading since I was directly quoting from the transcript (unlike your tortured interpretation).

The only one with a problem here is you.

The point is on January 5 he was talking about presiding if necessary. Why the hell was he talking about it. Has any Vice President not shown up to preside in the history of the nation? I think not many. That is sort of like the out going President not showing up for the inauguration. Trump was one of five including John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Martin Van Buren, and Andrew Johnson. Trump is a spoiled pussy whose talentless yes men couldn’t even pull off an insurrection and/or a coup.

I have said that if Skanky, Ginni Thomas and Mike Flynn had walked to the Capitol door during the January 6 Coup and Capitol Invasion, the Capitol doors would have been thrown open to them by the Capitol police or the coup conspirators in Congress and the Senate. Chuck Grassley was waiting for his moment to preside illegally over the Senate and overthrow the election results. Skanky, Ginni and Flynn would be viewed as representing the authority of the White House, Supreme Court, and Military. The outcome of the January 6 Coup would very different. It might have been very much like the coups in Niger and Gabon.

He truly did not remember; his whole admin was protecting him. I watched the hearings at the time and I remember the confused expression on his face when he was shown pictures of various people he KNEW. Now he ‘was’ an actor, but he wasn’t THAT GOOD an actor. He truly was gaga by year 6 of his term in office.

Nixon had the tape system installed so he could make the tapes and then donate them to his library and get a big tax break. I think Johnson had done something in that regard with his library, donating stuff and getting a break. BUT it may not have been Johnson. And Nixon was always saying THE DEMS ARE DOING IT already. He totally believed the DNC had secret stuff on HIM and was bitching about ‘that’ so CREEP (love that name, gotta love the person who thought up Committee to Re-Elect the President) sent out the plumbers and that was all she wrote!

I ‘remember’ that Trump had put out a tweet that Pence was going to ‘go along’ with the plan. But not that Pence was planning to abstain.

Sure Chuck, we believe you - NOT!

Hey Chuck!

Tell us why John Eastman contradicts what you’re saying!

We do owe the Secret Service driver who followed protocol and drove Trump back to the White House quite a lot.

The driver, yes. The Secret Service was infiltrated by white nationalist movement and the tools of Organization. Many were complicit in the coup. I think Skanky, Wanky, Beavis, Butthead, Kim Gargoyle, Hannity, Rudy, Eastman, Navarro etc. were spineless scum during the actual coup. They did not have the cojones to march to the Capitol and encourage the white nationalist christians who were attacking the Capitol on their orders and to benefit them.

I can’t find it AGAIN, but I thought it was @austin_dave who had pasted an article which had a very elaborate scheme to have power flow from Grassley to Pompeo, and then something something which would give the presidency back to Chump (unless Pompeo refused to give it up)

Big chunks of the plan included Pence and Pelosi being out of the way…and surprise surprise who were the rioters looking for the hardest? It seems to me, possible anyways, that these RW Ratfascist Traitors had a much more involved plan than just trashing the place. As we know, even if Plan A or Plan B didn’t materialize…they were hoping to call down martial law, invoke the insurrection act, and possibly get military or Sheriff help seizing voting machines/tabulations so they could rewind/walk everything back from the Certification cliff.

The Secret Service was in on the conspiracy. The plan was to get Pence away from the Capitol. I’m surprised they let Pence stay. I’m sure there were thoughts of forcing him to leave, despite his objections.

For his “own safety”, you understand.

I wrote on another thread this morning about how Chump was a lifelong loser/bully who got gifted the presidency…like a fairy godmother tapped him with her wand…and transformed him into the raving, powermad monster he has become. Almost nothing else in the world could turn him from a loser/bully into anything more substantial…but sure…the RWers gave that power to the worst possible human imaginable.

Now he had clout, the govt.'s money and lawyers, and a full military. But all he could really muster was his RagTag Meal Team 6 ‘army’. And, although he was repulsed by those people…he LOVED having some muscle for the very first time.

What caused me to comment on this again was your point…how spineless they all were. In every way imaginable. Chump never had the cojones to really Command our military. You could tell he was scared of it, and that he KNEW deep-down he didn’t have the mettle. Similar to the Coup…he knew deep-down that no matter how much he wanted it…that he is a loser/bully who can only push around brain-damaged losers with daddy issues.

Even when the path is open for Chump and his ilk, they would rather do it the seedy way. The hidden, shoot you in the back from behind a rock kind of way. The slimy, how-low-can-I-go kind of way.

Indeed it is likely that there was/is Secret Service individuals involved in the plot. But, simply, we do not have the evidence to show it. We have suspicious circumstances but most of it can be explained away. Pence, for example. If your protectee is a target on a mess like J6, it has to be standard practice to get him the hell away.

And it works for the conspirators whether or not the Secret Service is getting him away for the right or wrong reasons – nobody in the Secret Service needs to know what the conspiracy wants if they can be counted on to do it for other reasons.

No, what’s happening here is you’ve made a decision on how to interpret an answer without taking into consideration how modern spoken English works. People take shortcuts all the time, and an implied “if” based on the earlier “if” is entirely plausible and would not be at all unusual. As I have repeatedly stated (which you keep leaving out of your responses), Grassley is shady but there are far better examples of that than this.
