Grassley Says He Was Not ‘Involved In Any Conversations’ About Him Presiding Over Congress On Jan. 6

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) told reporters on Capitol Hill Thursday he was not involved in any conversations with Trump allies about the possibility of him presiding over the Jan. 6, 2021 joint session of Congress.

Maybe they didn’t told him because the guy is incapable of keeping his mouth shut, and would have told the world what he was going to do. But they knew he could be relied on when the moment came.

That’s ok Chuck. It’s not the crime that gets you…it’s the cover up.

He Was Not ‘Involved In Any Conversations’ About Him Presiding Over Congress On Jan. 6

So that’s why he literally said on January 5, 2021:

“Well, first of all, I will be — if the Vice President isn’t there and we don’t expect him to be there, I will be presiding over the Senate,”

So who you going to believe, Grassley on January 5, 2021, or Grassley on September 7, 2023…?

All I know is Senator Grassley is lying.

I wonder if you can sue because of a fact check.

The weasels are all backtracking like crazy…Noooooo! They had nothing to do with the plot to overturn the election! The morons still cannot figure out that there is tape and video, and they are locked into their treasonous behavior thanks to modern technology enology.

Getting Reagan’s hazy recall about Iran-Contra vibes from Grassley here.

"You know, I always wondered about that taping equipment but I’m damn glad we have it, aren’t you?"

President Nixon actually said this to Watergate co-conspirator H.R. Haldeman in April 1973, weeks before the U.S. Senate began its nationally televised hearings.

“When pressed about how the mix up happened, Grassley was led away by a staffer…”

Back in January 2021, i missed the part where Pence was not going to be there. Had Pence indicated he wasn’t coming and if so on what basis?

You’d think more than two years later Grassley would have had a quick explanation at the ready for this question (whether or not it was accurate). Pretty breathtaking even for this fossilized hayseed.

Do we know if any text messages or emails from Trump or his staff of insurrectionists to member of Congress were mixed in with those to the Proud Boys / Oath Keepers, etc. that the Justice Department has? Does anyone think if they are in Smith’s possession that the public will be told and these congresspeople will be publicly identified? I haven’t heard anything about this, but with all the messaging that was done by the gang that couldn’t shoot straight and the vocal noise coming from the far Right politicians, I suspect there is a real possibility. Just wondering…and hoping.

You mean if Pence - just spitballing here - was removed from the Capitol during the riot by his security detail “ for his own safety”? Something like that, Chuck?

Of course he said he was not involved in those conversations! He’s old and senile! He can’t even remember what State he represents!

“We were talking about presiding over the Senate but a lot of people get that mixed up with some idea that I was going to preside over the joint session.”

“Including me,” Grassley continued.

Exactly. I guess Grassley is trying to distinguish between “conversations” and other modes of communication. Unless, of course, he donned his Carnac the Magnificent turban and cape and miraculously learned that Pence wouldn’t show. I imagine that the the spirit world would have told him something like, “Based on what Trump has been saying, Pence knows that he’s in real danger if he shows up to count the votes tomorrow, but you’ll be fine if you take his place and do the right thing.”

As an article of faith, Grassley is lying. Because, you know, Grassley is always either lying, or napping.

Well I guess I got that right - previous thread. The old fart did talk about presiding over the Senate.

I’m not in la la land yet.
