Graham Wants To ‘Make Trump Successful,’ But ‘Not At All Cost’

According to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), there’s a limit to his loyalty to President Donald Trump.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1256792

Graham has already paid the ‘cost’ of what little honor and integrity he had so I’m not sure what’s next other than electability which I suspect is a cost he will not pay.

ETA: Loyalty is too precious to pay for anything less than ideas and movements – individuals with their feet of clay are necessarily much less ‘expensive’ – so I’m not exactly sure what Graham is referring to in that vein either. But then, the word may mean something different to Graham, something a bit more basic like, “you scratch my back, I scratch yours.”

Sure thing, Lindsey. Let’s check back on this in a month or so. I predict you will be kneeling before the king again.

He is the dumbest fucker ever to hold the title of President of the USA.

So, Senator Graham, at what point will you decide to uphold the Constitution and decide not to pay the cost that Trump extracts on a daily basis?

You’ve betrayed your oath of office and country over and over again for the Extortionist-in-Chief!

It’s too late for your grandstanding Leningrad Lindsey…you’ve shown your true trumpian acolytic tendencies over and over again and hundreds of our allies died because of the Extortionist-in-Chief’s selfishness and greed!

You want to prove yourself to be a NON-DEADBEAT senator, vote to convict, otherwise, you are all talk and no patriotic action!

I was just talking about you elsewhere, you weak weak little man. If there is anyone on earth who respects you I do not know who it would be - you are that pathetic.

Sorry Lindsey, you already emptied your bank account for Trump.

Add Rubio and Cruz who were two of PP’s biggest critics during the campaign.

I hope Syria isn’t the first of a series of catastrophic self-owns designed to serve as opportunities for profiles in courage from each of Trump’s most faithful.

This is the argument, rarely put in words, of the Sonderkommandos. “I helped kill fellow prisoners so I could keep alive a while longer.” If they ever made that argument out loud I doubt they made it with an air of pompous superiority about being “reflective.” And of course, they were threatened with actual immediate and brutal death. Not just the loss of their high position. You weren’t “reflective,” Lindsey. You were complicit. Sit and wait. You’re a collaborator. There will be consequences.

I said Syria was Trump’s Waterloo, and we haven’t even seen the worst of it. :anguished:

Why Lindsey Graham would drawn the line on Trump with Syria and ignore all of the other corruption, ignorance, illegalities, and unpatriotic decisions is beyond me. It speaks to Graham’s own corruption.

“I’ll lick his boots and bend over for him, and I’ll repeatedly publicly embarrass myself by acting as his lap dog, and I’ll absolutely act on his behalf without an ounce of self-respect, but I won’t support him at any cost,” Graham continued.

That ship has sailed, gone around the world, come back to port, and sailed again, Lindsey.

Hardly the first. Only the latest. Don’t forget the Ukraine betrayal, enabling the unilateral withdrawal from the front lines that’s making things heat up again there.
