South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) said Friday that Black people and immigrants can achieve success in his state, they “just need to be conservative, not liberal.”
“No plausible public health or scientific rationale justifies proceeding with Senate Judiciary Committee hearings next week,” the Democratic members of the Judiciary Committe wrote in a letter to Graham on Friday. “We need not proceed in such a reckless and blind fashion.”

I’m pretty sure Lindsay would never deign to whitesplain in such an egregious way if he were in his right mind. Probably just the Covid talking.
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) said Friday that Black people and immigrants can achieve success in his state, they “just need to be conservative, not liberaluppity.”
Graham highlighted Sen. Tim Scott (R) – another South Carolina senator, who is also the only Black Republican senator – as well as former Gov. Nikki Haley, as people of color who rose to success at least in part due to sharing that state’s “values.”
“I’m not going to live my life differently than you have to live yours,” Graham said, in an apparent reference to Americans who work alongside colleagues who have not been tested for the virus according to the Associated Press.
So why are colleges trying to test students? Come up with a plan to make sure that those that test positive are isolated from the of the student population?

Wasn’t there something Trump said in the last day or so about being “clean”? I think that we’ve moved into “If you get COVID it’s God’s judgement on you, as in you’re dirty and not worthy of God’s protection.”
The premise of Isabel Wilkerson’s new book “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent” seems to be in play here.
Strom Thurmond from the grave wants his Dixiecrat cred back. Lindsey wants only the “good ones”. Talk a look at South Carolinas rankings in various metrics be they poverty, education, health and mortality rates or economic mobility. Its mostly in the 40’s. Or just Google the corridor of shame.
I sure do hope that reporters local and national start asking about this statement. Because Lindsey seems to be saying that he’s done with a two party system. That if you don’t think like me, and my party’s political philosophy then you’re less than nothing.
I don’t think his handlers can claim that he was joking.
