Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), one of President Trump’s staunchest defenders on the impeachment inquiry, has unleashed a new round of spin to avoid calling a spade a spade.
“The whole process is a joke. The whole idea that there’s a quid pro quo based on somebody changing their testimony presuming there was … This is a political vendetta. … What I can tell you about the Trump policy toward Ukraine. It was incoherent. It depends on who you talk to; they seem to be incapable of forming a quid pro quo.”
Their defense is going to be that Donnie and his minions were too inept and stupid to have had corrupt intent in using duly appropriated security funds to force the Ukrainians to interfere in the 2020 election to benefit Trump personally. That’s a hard row to hoe when they spent two years living with the Mueller investigation into illegal requests and coordination with foreign nationals to interfere with the 2016 election.
Even Don Jr. can’t claim to be stupid enough that he didn’t know bribing or blackmailing the Ukrainians was illegal.
Lawyer for mugger: Your honor my client is not guilty because when he pulled out his gun to get money from that person, the person ran away and my client kept missing him when he was trying to shoot him and then ran away when he heard police sirens. Since he failed to actually mug the person then no crime was committed right?
