Graham: Impeachment Is Bogus | Talking Points Memo

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) won’t exactly exonerate President Trump for his Ukraine quid pro quo, but that doesn’t mean he finds the House’s impeachment inquiry valid.

In the sense that Impeachment is dealing with a bogus POTUS, I agree.

Having it both ways. He’s hounded constantly about things he didn’t do, but in this case he probably did them but shouldn’t be hounded?

You mean it’s dangerous to follow the same procedures that the House has set up and used in previous impeachment investigations? Clinton, Nixon, judges and other officials, they all get the same closed door investigation first, with both parties in the room asking questions (or staff lawyers from both sides), before any public hearings happen. The same happened with Benghazi, most of the testimony was behind closed doors…we only remember the Clinton testimony because Republicans thought they could embarrass her with public testimony, that’s overshadowed how much of it was private.

It’s really getting aggravating that Republicans keep lying about the process, especially when there are Republicans in the room participating in the hearings. The press really needs to start pinning the Republicans down about the Republican members of Congress who are in the room.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen in terms of Ukraine,” Graham said, before airing his “own view about the letter” and railing against the House for its “dangerous” approach to the investigation."

What “letter” is Graham talking about here, Summer? That reference is not clear.

Graham keeps inching his way towards the inevitable. It’s a riot to watch him step closer and closer to reality.

McCain must be visiting him in Graham’s dreams and telling him to knock it the f*** off.

“I’m not here to tell you that Donald Trump’s done nothing wrong.”

Mission accomplished.

Oral sex between consenting adults? Impeachable.

Shaking down another country and threatening to basically hand them to the russkies? Meh.

Graham is our national mood ring. The current mood is pink. Later, it will be rageful red, curious yellow, jealous green, baleful blue, and muddy brown.

It almost reminds me of an Elton John song.

No, it was for lying about it under oath that they got him.

In the House only, of course.

Although his law license was also suspended and eventually he surrendered it.

Wasn’t Clinton impeached for lying to Congress over a consensual bj?

Oh fuck you Lindsay. Go play with your dolls or hump a large porcupine.

Btw Trump’s approval is down to 40.6% on 538. Yet for whatever reason there’s suddenly this panicky call for some centrist Dem to enter the race or else Trump wins reelection, perhaps even Clinton herself. Judge Judy is calling for Bloomberg to run. Is this concern trolling or are these people nuts? Could we actually see some movement among establishment types towards Trump if the nominee is Warren, even some Dems? I suspect that this is mostly coming from the right under the cover of “concerned centrists”, because they fear, quite rightly, that Warren would whup his fat ass. But it’s also predictable. The centrist wing of the party just won’t die.

Just the lying under oath part. What he was lying over was inconsequential. A lie is a lie.

Sadly, that doesn’t count anymore (the lie is a lie part, that is).

You have to hand it to Graham that he keeps the media in the palm of his hand. Doesn’t matter what nonsense he says, it’ll be reported as headline news, as will the next thing he says–likely contradicting the previous–and the next until he dies. There is nothing he can do or say to lose his credibility with the press such that they’ll stop covering him.

Dear Lindsey,

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody’s got one. And, remember yours during the Clinton impeachment hearings?

“Process” objections are all they’ve got, so that’s what’s on today’s menu. It will be fascinating to see what imaginary goalposts they’ll try to find and move, once this goes to public hearings.

But that was an actual crime, dontcha know. Getting caught at it, that is. One wonders what messed-up things Graham has done that he’s being blackmailed with to spew such idiotic and offensive tripe.
