Well, FWIW my interpretation was that the difference was the colour of the President’s skin. This was obviously driving (and continues to drive) Republicans collectively nuts, so they could be expected to do things they’d never have considered in the past, even up to and including crashing the U.S. economy to make him look bad. Once this became even a flirting possibility, the risk to the markets goes up correspondingly.

Now, do I rule out portions of the Elite Economic Infrastructure doing things just to hurt their opposition (pronounced “enemies”)? Absolutely not - it’s just the Occam’s Razor in me kicking in, since the demonstrated insanity of Republicans has since been confirmed and carved in stone…

Or he’s going to cut himself off from them until they ever come to their senses. I’ve seen this sort of thing play out a couple of times in my world and the best thing is actually to do just that. You find your family and companionship amongst those who welcome you and ignore those who would cause you harm (to be honest, I’m only really familiar with the “emotional harm” stuff, but the technique works well in both cases… )
