Former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) hasn’t joined President Donald Trump’s legal team to help him with the House impeachment inquiry, and apparently he doesn’t know if he ever will.
Very few lawyers who work with Trump in any capacity come out with their reputation intact. Just ask Cohen, Guliani, Barr, Sessions, Whittaker, Dowd, among probably others.
If you don’t say or do the stupid things Trump needs done, he throws you overboard.
Maybe Gowdy deserves that job as penance for his Benghazi perfidy.
ETA: and who really cares what Gowdy does? Perry Mason, he ain’t. And the crack about he may not live long because of how the Cowboys are playing…what? Is he that incoherent or an inveterate gambler in debt to the mafia?
Benghazi Gowdy will have to eat crow if he joins the Criminal-In-Chief’s legal team.
Word to the wise, you’ve extracted yourself from ETTD right now…
“Don’t be a fool” by joining an additional criminal enterprise, notwithstanding your RepubliCON affiliation!
Clearly has his finger in the air testing the wind. If he thinks it’s blowing tRump’s way, he’ll go try to claim some of the “glory.” If not, he’ll stay right out of the way of that bulk hitting the fan.
go ahead and join gowdy.
might as well finish off your legacy with a bigly huge failure along with trump tweeting off your total demise for all eternity
In order for a lawyer to represent a client, the client has to be completely truthful with him/her. That will never happen with Trump, but if it does then maybe Gowdy might consider working for him.
Trump is always truthful. The problem is we’re operating in the Trump world of “Truth isn’t truth” Giuliani, “Alternative facts” Conway, and “When we act, we create our own reality” Rove. Truth as a time dependent variable is a tricky world for a conscientious lawyer to navigate, but would not pose a problem for Gowdy.
One, his reference that it might all be over by January. Does he really think that would be possible at this point?
Two, the fact he indicated he could not talk to or influence indirectly either Republican or Democratic House members in reference to the investigation. Job hunting? Not sure what that messaging is about.
