Gov’t Watchdogs To Investigate Capitol Police, Potential Congressional Role In Attack | Talking Points Memo

Two federal watchdogs are opening investigations into last week’s breach of the Capitol — including one looking at the potential involvement of Republican legislators. The New York Times reported the probes Wednesday.

Note to Gym Jordan:

RUN AWAY!!!

That first link in the article is just to a NYT catch-all, does not seem to include details on this probe

so…the tours were so concerning that they were reported on the 5th? Yet apparently, nothing much was done about it.

It’s becoming clear that Democrats fully knew something serious was afoot the day before, not just because they knew the rally/protest was going to happen, but because they already suspected their colleagues were planning something. I suspect there will be at least a handful of members who will wind up implicated in this. Won’t it be hilarious if the two Q congresswomen don’t even last a whole month in Congress before they’re banned from ever holding office again.

The more we learn, the more I realize that the incompetence of the insurgents and the heroism of a subset of the Capitol police is the only thing that stopped a real coup that would have ended with multiple Dems dead. I don’t know the official military position on supporting a President that has successfully engaged in a coup. I’m glad we didn’t have to find out.

More and more it seems unquestionable that some of our elected officials really did hope that there would be some sort of Republican Reckoning Day for their benefit. But how bad did they want it?
Just how deeply they were involved is the new reality, they were so hyper-partisan, some of them didn’t realize they were all the way to sedition. Those who knew it outright need to be identified and punished to the fullest extent of the law, those who stumbled into it as doofus conservative sleepwalkers need to be disciplined.
They all need to retire or resign or flee politics from now on, they already proved they can’t play nice with democracy, they don’t belong at the table anymore. Plain and simple.

We need to study this and figure out exactly where hyper-partisan became sedition.
That is what happened.

Gym Jordan is not afraid.
He will take any Dem in the House to the mat and pin them.
This means he wins.

Yeah, but it also gives Pence an opportunity to pardon Trump

Fore-knowledge without action is the same as taking up arms against your own country. Kick. Them. Out.

I don’t think he would, though. Impossible to know, of course.

Or, at the very least, he got excited about something other than ‘cancel culture’.

In my experience, GAO doesn’t mess around. This is good to see.

Well, I can think of some republican reps who must be pooping themselves right about now…

Generations from now most everyone will say that whether Trump is removed or not.

So if you know an unlawful act is planned and don’t report it (having a duty as a government official), is that sufficient for “aid and comfort”?

Yea, listening to the proceeding while on my walk was spoiled by the incessant braying that Trump didn’t incite the riot, that he’ll only be here for 7 more days, and nothing about how they had to hide out for 6 hours because the President was too busy watching what he wrought on the TV.

Thanks Republicans you can no longer claim that someone needs to be held to account for their actions. They’ve lost the high ground on morality by dismissing the danger that they were in.

And I have yet to hear not one Republican try to get their group together to go out and talk to the rioters.

And for the metal detector shirkers I’ve got an idea, why don’t you all pool your money and send to all the school districts in the US that have had to spend tens of thousands of dollars for security for our schools, to keep the number of school shootings to a minimum.
