Gordon Sondland Told Congress There Was Quid Pro Quo In Trump’s Ukraine Scheme | Talking Points Memo

I suspect now that Trump/Republicans are certain that Trump will be impeached, they want to accelerate the process.

It might prevent whatever his next crime is from becoming an article of impeachment.

LOL. Exactly. His overblown “look at me, I’m better than Obama” is/was pathetic and what you would expect. He will be lucky if this deflection lasts the rest of the day. No staying power. Sad.

“When I use a word ,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean —neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.”

Is it the right time to now call Trump the Red Queen? Or do we have to wait for the official proclamation “Off with their heads”?

The head of the Russian military has serious doubts about the reality and the outcome so-called of the raid to kill Baghdadi: https://www.rawstory.com/2019/10/russian-military-undercuts-trump-by-expressing-valid-doubts-about-the-reality-and-success-of-isis-raid/

And even if he has no doubt whatsoever, why should he not pretend otherwise?

Yeah, barring further info, I read that as normal Russian FUD to prevent a geopolitical rival from taking too much credit.

It’s a very good point that the Republicans are not saying anything about what is coming out in the testimonies…they are in the room, they or staff should be asking half the questions (it’s not clear they are using their time though), and yet we are hearing nothing from them, aside from a couple general complaints about the process. The couple times they did try to come out and say that “this testimony shows Trump is innocent!” the reporting afterward showed that they were either lying or not understanding the testimony.

It’s telling that they aren’t pushing back on testimony with statements from the testimony…and it shows how terrified they are at what is being said, what is yet to come, and what it means for 2020 for them.

One other thing that just occurred to me…when Nixon went down there were several trials of his associates. We will not be seeing that this time around, the DoJ leadership is too beholden to the Republican party to do that before the election. The House may have to continue investigating, and lay out the entire case…or we’ll have to wait until 2021 (presuming a Democrat wins the presidency) to have a proper investigation and charges filed. The only exception is SDNY, but it’s not clear they will be able to pursue a full investigation on their own. It’s a sad statement on what has happened to DoJ in this administration.

This country is finished if we don’t sweep both houses and the presidency next year. The criminals in the DOJ must be prosecuted. None of this forgiveness and “looking forward, not back” BS.

Luskin said that in Sondland’s response to the question, the ambassador “cautioned that he wasn’t a lawyer but said he believed the answer was yes,” in the Wall Street Journal’s words.

Committee Congressman: “Ambassador Sondland, can you see this paper which I am holding up?”

Sondland: “I’m not an ophthalmologist, but I believe the answer is ‘yes.’”

Sondland needs to consult Ted Cruz on how to deal with owning a supremely punchable face. Cruz’s beard is probably the best decision he’s ever made.

Luskin also told the Wall Street Journal that Sondland is open to giving another testimony in the impeachment inquiry if investigators request for him to do so.

Oh, I’m sure that Sondland is much more than just “open” to giving another testimony. He’s downright eager to do so, in order to re-align his previous testimony with the reported testimony of others who testified after him.

How does this “announcement” by the attorney square with Sondland’s statements that his recollections were not the same as Taylor’s after Taylor’s statement leaked???

Et tu Gordon?

What about the rest of the Tres Amigos?

Whether it is diplomatic deal or business deal, if you work for the USA, the benefit must accrue to the USA, it’s interest & people!

Come now. Surely it’s because their respect for the process is so deep that they want to keep closed-door testimony confidential.
