Donna Arduin, the Republican consultant known for overseeing slashed budgets in state after state, is no longer Alaska’s budget director.

Didn’t she just get the gig?

To quote from the Wizard of Oz - people come and go so quickly here…

"The staffer, Ben Stevens, said he didn’t think Arduin’s ouster was related to the Dunleavy recall effort."

That is hilarious!!!

“I have no sympathy for people who want handouts from the government,” Arduin told Duke Magazine in a 2006 profile, adding separately, “I joined government to shrink it.”

I want to know how many tax dollars this woman has been paid over the years as a consultant whose sole skill is to cut programs to the poor and middle class and call it “shrinking” the government.

Looks like the good people of Alaska are bigger socialists than they thought.

Victim of her own budget cuts?

They are socialist in the way they have state oil interests and distribute dividends to citizens as owners.

To be fair, her other skill is to lower the tax burden on corporations and rich people.

Your typical Republican parasite. Gets a nice government job with lots of pay and cuts needed assistance to the poor all the time worshipping Ayn Rand!

“I have no sympathy for people who want handouts from the government,”

Says the person who took a job as a budgetary adviser working for a governor who ran on the sole premise that he would increase the handouts that everyone in the state gets from the government. Oh, the irony.

There’s so many more states to destroy. She can’t sit still for too long.

DunLeavey won in part by promising bigger checks from the Permanent Fund. The only way to do that and balance the budget (with no tax increases) is to slash the state budget massively. The GOP has long run campaigns on the promise of suspending math, only for it to catch up to them when governing.

I’m all for ‘shrinking government’. Let’s START with corporate welfare instead of those essential services you seem to regard as ‘handouts’.

The Alaskan columnist mentions how “She knew nothing about Alaska or its history, blithely assuming that the far-right script she had rehearsed Outside would work.”

But that’s actually how things are in EVERY state. Rightwing talking points sound good, but nobody actually likes conservative policies. That’s why they insist that liberals are radical socialists who want to turn America into Venezuela so they can claim normal liberal policies as their own.

Every conservative I’ve dealt with thinks the government should provide good healthcare, education, and a safety net; if only liberals weren’t wasting the money on lazy minorities and illegal immigrants. Then liberals insult them for being racist instead of explaining that these programs don’t exist because of Republicans.

Can’t help that it keeps being proven true over and over again.

Also, coming from conservatives who frequently criticize liberals for being snowflakes, I really have little sympathy if they take offense at being told the truth.

Duleavy’s face, along with the President’s, was carved into a “shaming” totem pole last month by the Tlingit artist Tommy Joseph.

Very nice!

Buth there’s a time and place for having fun and it’s not while Arduin is being invited into state after state to make people suffer.

Perhaps she needs something like a town crier to track her and out her before she can work her damage.

“She has had a career as a short-timer, hired by Republican governors to cut the budget while keeping her suitcases ready to roll,” he added."
