A Trump administration background check proposal is circulating Capitol Hill — but Republicans won’t even peruse it until President Donald Trump has given it his stamp of approval.
GOP Won’t Read Background Check Proposal Until Trump Is On Board
And even then they won’t pay any attention to it because Trump might change his mind in the next few minutes. All it will take is a phone call from Wayne LaPierre or a tweet from Ann Coulter calling him a wuss for even thinking about it and his support for expanded background checks will be a thing of the past.
An “independent” is just a Republican sympathizer who’s embarrassed about it. The only “sane Republicans” left are the ones who want to try to have a political party in the post-Trump post-treason era. And they’re deluding themselves.
“A Trump administration background check proposal is circulating Capitol Hill — but Republicans won’t even peruse it until President Donald Trump has given it his stamp of approval.”
Would you read the instructions for the installation of a water softener if you didn’t want a water softener, and didn’t think you needed a water softener?
As far as the Senate is concerned there is one branch of government. The Senate is just as much a puppet of Putin, the Saudis, the NRA, Big Money, Wall Street, etc. as their own puppet master is. It must be hard to know who to obey at any particular time.
Have to disagree with this, there are many independents who have not been happy with the way the Democratic party has been run since the 2008 primaries. They still reliably vote for Democrats, because you’d have to be insane not to. The Democratic party may get me to change my registration back to Democrat if Biden still has a chance of winning the PA primary, if he is safely out of the running, then I will remain Independent until the Democrats stop acting like Republicans… today a large portion of the Democratic party is to the right of the ‘Rockefeller Republicans’ of my youth.
I guess the founding fathers and authors of the Federalist Papers had it all wrong. Apparently, the Republicans think that the only reason for having a Congress is to do the scut work of putting together a bill, but then stepping back to see what Trump wants. Congress’s power to appropriate gives way if Trump wants to move money around. It’s ok if he declares war. His cronies and aides are not answerable to Congress or anyone else.
Not need to worry about a veto or having to override one. Everything is pre-cleared with the big cheese doodle before hand.
The impeachment inquiry should be looking at the Congressional Republicans too.
I still do not believe that most people are aware of the situation we are in.
This is not a Civil War in the 1861-1865 sense.
This is a government takeover with a great potential of an arrangement of appropriate methods of population control going forward.
The Electoral College, The Cheat and about twenty other items are at the GOP’s disposal.
Maybe this WhistleBlower situation will turn the tide against Trumpism (in the sense that SleepyHeads not engaged will listen to what doubtless have been many others trying to get them to wake up).
I had a dream that this bill was snapped up and passed by a veto-proof majority, separating Trump permanently from approximately ten percent of his base.
OK, point taken and acknowledged. But, with respect (and to paraphrase a fucking war criminal, which is not my usual mode): “You go to war with the Democratic party you have, not with the one you want.”
Wouldn’t disagree, but I’d insist that there are essentially no Sleepy-Heads to be awoken within the GOP ranks. At every level, for every kind of corrupt or delusional reason, they are All In with Trump.
The only Sleepy-Heads who matter–because they’re the only ones who might still possibly be awoken–as the criminally-ill-informed Dem-identified who are too fucking lazy to vote.
We’re going to need a 2020 wave so big that the GOP vote-suppressors and machine-hackers can’t overcome it.
