Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) on Monday praised the discussions he and several of his fellow GOP senators have been having with the White House on their watered-down counterproposal to President Joe Biden’s multi-trillion dollar infrastructure plan.

A recent “good discussion” …

R’s: “Why are you destroying us with all of these popular ideas?”

WH: “Consequences, bitches.”

Biden is expected to unveil his sweeping $1.8 trillion proposal on Wednesday.

Let’s hear from Senator Wicker after that.

There are lay-people Republicans who like Biden’s Infrastructure Plan.
That’s an objective reality

Let’s not and say we did. Another bad faith argument we don’t need.

Uh huh…you offer 5% of what we NEED and that’s fraudulent after you whittle away the ‘overhead’ the GOP insists on…are these more ‘good discussions’ that waste time and then you walk away from? Whining and sniveling about ‘bipartisanship’ and running to the microphones crying about ‘fairness’???

O/T but really???
Republican “Leader” Kevin McCarthy fled with his security detail during the January 6th insurrection, leaving Rep. Bruce Westerman to fend for himself, crouched on McCarthy’s toilet, armed with a Civil War sword found in a nearby display.

Well, that headline should bring out the Unicorn Purity Brigade en echelon to tell us how Joe is about to cave to GOP obstructionism like always, right?

Hmm, actually the brigade hasn’t deployed much recently. I wonder…

Biden will get his infrastructure plan if agrees to cut the corporate tax rate to -4% and designates BLM a domestic terrorist organization. Oh, and has Liz Cheney deported.

Exactly…It’s needed Legislation (akin to the types that the American South–along with the rest of the country–accepted during the New Deal).

Let’s talk about GOP constituents…Here’s where GOP-voter racism meets GOP-voter necessity…we’ll see if LBJ is right.

Hating on black and brown people is waaay more important and fun than roads and bridges.

Detecting a change of tune. 70%+ approval and support for infrastructure has its affect…

The WH is probably listening intently to the G.O.P. visitors, and taking notes on things they can add to their existing proposal. “Great idea from our Republican colleagues about funding X. The total tab is now $1.9 trillion.”

Those accommodations would get him six GOP votes (House + Senate combined).

And three of those would be due to them accidentally hitting the “Aye” button at their desk.

Roger Wicker & Tom Cotton agree … 96% of the time.

I declare these “good discussions” Dead. On. Arrival.

The Republican opposition is about politics and not policy.

That is Republicans who have proven they are terrible at governing, and I do not mean just Trump, have as their only argument/tactic to get back into power is that Democrats are as bad or worse. Hence Republicans are doing everything they can to stop Democrats from governing thereby making them as bad or worse than Republicans. To acknowledge anything Democrats do is good will destroy this tactic and therefore Republicans at all costs must oppose anything Biden proposes.
