That seemed to be the message from several Republican senators in response to Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks against the U.S. at two military bases in Iraq Tuesday night.
Come on all of you big strong men
Uncle Sam needs your help again
he’s got himself in a terrible jam
way down yonder in ol’ Iran so
put down your books and pick up a gun we’re
gonna have a whole lotta fun
And it’s one, two, three, what are we fighting for
don’t ask me I don’t give a damn, next stop is ol’ Iran
And it’s five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
ain’t no time to wonder why, whoopee we’re all gonna die
Then grow a spine and tell the moron that if he doesn’t knock this off then there will be witnesses at the Senate trial. But they won’t do that, because they’re scared shitless of Trump’s voters
That worked out pretty well for North Korea. If the Iranians play this right – by which I mean finding a way to funnel a few million into the Trump Organization – they’ll end up with our complete withdrawal from Iraq and Syria, free rein across the region, an end to sanctions, and no meaningful restrictions on their nuclear program.
Yep. Shit just got real for these chickenhawk GOPers, who’ve been nothing more than cheerleaders up to now. When you hand the keys to a someone drunk on power like tRump, you can expect him to crash into something either on purpose or by accident. Either way, that’s not a good thing.
We only have “de-escalation” because Iranian officials showed restraint where Trump did not and has not. Whether this will be enough to satisfy Iran’s domestic political requirements is hard to say. They forced Trump to play for a draw which was smart. And Americans will probably be driven from Iraq by Iraq itself, giving Trump just enough time and room to claim it as his idea and a good thing and what he wanted all along. And Iran-backed militias will still do their thing.
It’s now on us to start a whisper campaign of how Trump “lost” in Iran / Iraq and how weak and impulsive he’s been through this whole affair. I suspect everyone who is not already on his team knows this, but it’s critical to that Trump feel that the country and world see him as weak since now it’s too late for his to do anything about it.
"Senate Armed Services Committee Chair James Inhofe (R-OK) echoed McConnell by saying that Trump is taking Iran’s attack “as an opportunity to not just deescalate but start negotiations,”
You know what would have given you more leverage? Not bombing them in the first place.
Our all volunteer force is heavily over represented by recruits from “red states.” At some point this becomes an issue for these fucks in their home states.
