GOP Senators Don’t Want To Acknowledge How States Are Rushing To Clamp Down On Voting | Talking Points Memo

It’s not just that Senate Republicans think that S1 — the bill also known as the “For The People Act” — is a poorly designed way to blunt the rush of voter restrictions advancing in state legislatures. As they indicated in a Wednesday hearing on the legislation, they don’t even want to recognize that states are seeking to cut off ballot access at all.

I thought Klobuchar was about to throw a stapler at Roger Wicker at one point, Lol. She ran a good hearing.

Dems can whittle down S1 to the essentials: guarantee VBM, guarantee at least 2 weeks of EV, eliminate onerous barriers to request VBM or to limit access to the ballot box. However, there’s no reason to whittle it down when there are no GOP votes. It’s really about a negotiation with Manchin on the content and getting his green light to waive the 60 vote requirement via a Schumer point of order that is sustained with 51 votes.

The GQP should be all in favor of only mail-in voting everywhere. Fits hand in hand with Dejoy’s efforts to destroy the Post Office

If GOP senators blocking a bill to overturn minority restrictions on voting by the majority…

By using the legislative filibuster (i.e. minority restrictions on voting by the majority)…

Isn’t the perfect vehicle to highlight the absurdity of minority restrictions on voting by the majority…

And to nuke the legislative filibuster (i.e. minority restrictions on voting by the majority)…

Then I don’t know what is.

So the GQP is working on voter suppression, but not:

Hmm one needs a license to conceal carry handguns, but any fool can open carry a long gun.

And do they really want to close down restaurants, bars, movie theaters, sporting events, and on and on so that Sunday is kept holy? Seems business might want to have a say on this new/old way Senator.

The GOP always wants their Sabbath piousness and their 24/7 casinos, too.

So they want to bring back those Blue Laws, and make Sundays dry again?

The day I take the GOP’s Old Testament bullsh-t seriously is the day they support ham control.

(And stone Trump to death for committing adultery.)
