Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), who chairs the Senate Rules Committee that is responsible for overseeing the election and formerly served as Missouri’s secretary of state, was anything but blunt when asked whether he accepts Joe Biden as president-elect, during an interview on CNN Sunday.
“I think there were things that could have been done differently and better to ensure there weren’t voter fraud,” Blunt said. “I think the system, frankly, was more secure than it’s ever been before. And the President deserves some credit for that.”
The next question should have been “Why did the GOP refuse to work with the House on election security bills to make it more secure?” But it wasn’t. This is why we can’t have nice things.
And @tmulcaire, that was my first thought as well, along with “this belongs in the non sequitur hall of fame”.
“Well, the president-elect will be the president-elect when the electors vote for him. There is no official job of president-elect,” Blunt said.
On the contrary, the President-elect is required by law to form a transition team and prepare for the peaceful transition of power. That, by definition, makes it “a job”.
And for not stating the blatantly obvious, it also makes Roy Blunt a coward.
I hope he isn’t. If he’s there, he’ll sit there on the front row and make faces during the whole thing, arms crossed, chin jutting out, shaking his head no, and the MSM will talk about how he was such a good sport. He’ll try to bring a lot of guests so that they, too, can behave like animals. He hasn’t yet figured out that he could get much more attention by actually doing the right thing. No, I think the thing to do is for him to stay away.
Interesting . . . Trump margin of “defeat” in 4 states occurred in 4 data dumps between 1:34-6:31 AM. Statistical anomaly? Fraud?
