GOP Sen. Lankford Says Trump Isn’t A Role Model: ‘I Don’t Like The Way That He Tweets’

The Republican senator told Brennan that Trump “comes across with more New York City swagger” and “definitely not the way that I’m raising my kids.”

That’s not New York City swagger – I know any number of people from New York who are perfectly lovely. That’s just Donald Trump. It’s not because he’s from New York City – it’s because he’s a world-class jerk.

I wonder how he reconciles his faith with “kids in cages” immigration policies, anti-semitism, racism, and a whole lot of other actions supported by this president. It’s much more than just the tweets.

I also see a real lack of self-reflection from an Oklahoman who equates New York with boorish behavior. NYC is actually an incredibly diverse place, far more so than the Senator’s home state. If only Trump were more like NYC in embracing diversity, etc.

That’s Mob Corruption.

People tend to “swagger” when all they hear is this

  • “Appeal”
  • “Case Dropped”
  • “Witness Declines to Testify”

Of course, that religious liberty only applies to the evangelical Christians who are Trump supporters. All others are subject to censorship. Just ask the students at Liberty University.

You have religious liberty dipshit .
What you do not have is the right, or pass laws, to tell we the people we have to follow your religious bull shit.

Well – their definition of “religious liberty” is their right to cram their form of religion down other people’s throats without having to be tainted by any whiff of any contrary beliefs.

If you are a Trump Christian, this is God’s will.

I had the same takeaway. This hypocrite is dancing because things have taken a turn. He isn’t sure which way the bible thumpers are going so he is trying to hedge his bets. This points to the CT article having some influence after all.

By Senator James Lankfords logic he really hated Charles Mansons writings and call for Helter Skelter but the Tate and LaBianca slaughter was just ancillary.

I guess this is what it looks like when someone approaches his maximum capacity for cognitive dissonance. Just before your head explodes, I figure. I’ve been wondering how long it would take Republicans to get there.

This is what you call a “shadow government.” The guys with their names on the letterheads aren’t the ones actually in charge.

It’s a version of hate the sin, love the sinner, but in this case the beloved sinner just keeps sinning, and it doesn’t make a bit of difference.
You, sir, are a weasel. Except they are cuter and less judgmental.

Yeah. Or maybe the turn you mention maybe having been taken was three years of continuing disgusting behavior. They don’t really like the guy, is the basic truth of it. They’re privately appalled, but they don’t want to say so. And Lankford’s getting an earful of this. So again, we may never see the grand collapse, the mass turning on Trump and tearing him limb from limb like Dionysus. But a big drop in enthusiasm, boy, that’s in the realm of near-probability. I’ve heard this all along—even the minions, many of them, don’t like the tweets. It’s their way of admitting to themselves that they don’t like him.

OT: just out from the NYT. Mt. Everest levels of ass-covering here from top Administration officials, especially Mulvaney. Sure looks like some folks are feeling the pressure.

O no they are not. They virtue-signalled us in 2018 by electing the first Democrat elected in Oklahoma in about 45 years I believe.

It’s real. It’s just that it’s been on the downlow. Those people are scared - way more than we are.

From the cited article:

" . . . the shooter pulls out a firearm and shoots two people. Another man pulls out a handgun and shoots the suspect.

In September, a new law went into effect that removed “churches, synagogues and other places of worship” from the state’s list of locations where guns are not allowed."

The NRA poster boy good guy with a gun goes to church in Texas.

But it is a start.

Well – I referenced Liberty University because earlier this year, a group of Red Letter Christians (one of the anti-Trump evangelical groups) was in Lynchburg, VA for a rally. Jerry Falwell, Jr., who is the president of Liberty, threatened to have them arrested if they so much as set foot on the campus. Pastors in town who were sympathetic with the Red Letter group were afraid to participate in the rally because many of them are part-time (many mainline churches can no longer afford full-time pastors) and depended on teaching positions at Liberty to supplement their incomes. They feared that if they participated, they’d lose their jobs. And when a reporter from Liberty’s student newspaper contacted Falwell for a comment on the proposed rally, he forbade the newspaper from mentioning it at all, telling the student, “All these people want is publicity, and you don’t want to be giving them any.”

There have been stories in the Richmond papers that a number of students there have grown somewhat restive over Falwell’s full-throated support of Donald Trump. But they don’t want to get kicked out of school for getting too mouthy about it.
