GOP Rep. Mark Walker Says He Was Contacted About Liberty University Job

I was contacted about the job, too, but I turned it down.
I told them that they don’t follow the teachings of Christ.

Surprised they haven’t already lined Pence up for this.

I live in Mark Walker’s district. He’s not running for re-election because the district was drawn more fairly and he doesn’t stand a chance of winning. He criticized Mr. Falwell, but has said nothing about Mr. Trump and his poor behavior. He’d probably be a perfect fit for Liberty. (That is not a compliment.)

Failed job candidate: only among republicans is that a resume burnisher.

Yeah, just offer the job with no vetting.

Doesn’t Liberty Biberty U. realize they are dealing with a GOP politician, and their various peckerdillos…?

This is the guy who wants to go to war with Mexico. He apparently thinks concurring Mexico will stop immigration. He is kind of right because if America concurs Mexico all Mexicans would become American citizens and not need to immigrate.

Well there are other aholes I would like to get out of congress, this guy is on the list. Maybe making him head of Falwell U, by its name you know it will be a real ahole, why not him.

People just need to go to WIKIPEDIA to read his record. Below are just a few tidbits.

Women’s issues

In 2019, Walker voted against re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act He also voted against an amendment to the Act authorizing federal grants “for the purpose of reducing sexual violence on college campuses,” which passed by a 258 to 173 margin.

Health care

Walker’s 2014 campaign web site stated "Obamacare should be repealed, and Mark will make doing so one of his top legislative priorities.

Security breach of House of Representatives

In October 2019, violating congressional rules, Walker was part of a group of Republican congresspersons who stormed into a closed committee inquiry which had been conducting an investigation related to alleged violations by President Trump. The effect was to delay the proceedings by five hours. Walker brought his cell phone into the room which was a security violation

Hayes indictment

Following the April 2019 indictment of former Rep. Robin Hayes for allegedly attempting to bribe state insurance officials, Politico identified Walker as the unnamed “Public Official A” in the indictment who called state insurance officials after a political committee under his control received a $150,000 donation. Walker was not indicted or named in the indictment. He denied any wrongdoing and said he has been fully cooperating with the probe.

Remarks

Walker has made controversial statements that have brought him national attention; for example, in 2017 he described women colleagues publicly as "eye candy.

Walker was asked if military force was appropriate along the U.S.-Mexican border. He stated that the National Guard might be necessary to secure the border. He added, “…if you have foreigners who are sneaking in with drug cartels, to me that is a national threat, and if we got to go laser or blitz somebody. I don’t have a problem with that either.” The moderator then asked if he had any qualms about starting a war with Mexico. Walker responded, "Well, we did it before, if we need to do it again, I don’t have a qualm about it.

I guess the search is over. Looks like we found the perfect candidate.

First they have to do a background check and see if his background includes any sex scandals. You cannot be a strong voice for chaste and godly morality in this country unless you have some relevant experience.

Does this mean Mike sits in the corner and watches… Never mind, even I can’t bear that visual.

So in order to lead Liberty University you don’t need to have any background whatsoever in higher education. Strike that “higher education” part. It’s not as if Jerry Jr. had any concept of what it takes to run a university either.

Anybody know what’s going on with NC-06, Mark Walker’s former district? Is he expecting to get redistricted out of there?
