There’s a bigger problem than the pointlessness of it. The President has the power to declassify them, yes. But there’s a procedure that still has to be followed, with special markings on it to prove that it’s been declassified, and without that being done It. Isn’t. Declassified.

Not only should the markings be changed, but the relevant agency needs to be notified. There’s literally no point in declassifying something and keeping it a secret from that agency.

You’re right – he thinks he’s declassified whatever was in the folders, but that’s horseshit. 1. It would say on the front, as well as on every page, that the document was declassified and by what authority. 2. As I wrote below, Trump’s essentially claiming that he randomly went around declaring America’s most closely-held national security intelligence is now an open public record. It’s totally insane no matter which way you look at it.

Plus, the people in Trump’s Admin that were supposed to carry out the declassification all said that there was no standing order. SURPRISE Trump lied.

Oh silly Mike McCaul, we do have the facts. Trump says he had a standing order to declassify all documents he took, but the people responsible for pushing that paperwork didn’t know about it. They didn’t declassify documents using that procedure, and if they followed the normal procedure, those files wouldn’t have been in those folders.

Lots of Ukrainian flags and signs in my part of the forest. I had attributed this to our large Ukrainian immigrant population, but I haven’t exactly knocked on doors and checked.
Nice to think it’s others as well.
True story: I got lost looking for a high school friend’s house back in the early 70s, and went to five houses before I found someone who spoke enough English to give me directions. And many, many more have come since then.

I’m in the suburban Philly area and when I was a kid my dad would go to a Ukrainian bakery up in North Philly near a ski shop we patronized and get this awesome black bread, OMG we’ve talked about it at length here. I think there must be a significant population in the region, but more in the northern end of the Philly area. In that one neighborhood here I can’t say but it would be quite a coincidence. Stands to reason most of us know enough, or should, to root for them. I think it’s obvious who’s the good guys.
