House Republicans reportedly told Democrats ahead of Wednesday’s impeachment vote proceedings that they’d limit their procedural objections in exchange for an extra hour of debate time. But that didn’t stop House Republican leadership from using the first hour of proceedings to make dense and often murky procedural protests, while accusing Democratic leadership of intentionally violating House rules.
Republicans have nothing to defend Trump against these serious charges, so they try to make a circus out of these solemn proceedings. Once again , they are attempting to stall and delay this vote until no one is watching.
When the GOP controlled the house, the Dems were shut out of most proceedings.
duh… this is precisely what the Rules Committee agreed to – the right to spend an hour complaining about the process and procedures.
In other words, this Hour of bullshit is what the Democrats agreed to. We shouldn’t be complaining about the GOP doing exactly what the Rules committee said it was entitled to do. Instead the Dems should be rebutting these procedural arguments – but they are letting almost every lie and accusation pass unremarked upon, while Democratic hacks get their 60 to 90 seconds of TV time to preen for the cameras.
Voting on actual articles of impeachment is scheduled for 6;30-7:30pm. They’re trying to push it later, preferably after midnight. Perhaps uncoincidentally, orange magoo is scheduled to go on stage at a campaign rally at 7pm.
Except it sounds like the Dems were foolish enough at the beginning to give into the GOoPers promise of limiting their process complaints. They should have just denied them the chance to play these games from the outset, knowing what they would do to manipulate the process anyway. Being fair is one thing but giving in to predictably foolish attempts to make a mockery of these proceedings is a mistake that Dems keep allowing to happen it seems. It doesn’t make them more righteous when they seem to get played like that either. Rs are going to accuse the Dems of all manner of bad things including being unfair, so why give in to their cries and change things to accommodate their tantrums?
Republican Leadership: If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with bullshit.
Democrats should vote to impeach and hold off on sending articles to the Senate for trial because its less that a year to the elections and we have a precedent to not taking consequential actions during an election year.
I just saw some GOP rep thumping her bible at everyone while she defends trump and I got to thinking, maybe she should stop thumping her bible and read it. Because the last time I checked being a bald faced lying sack of crap is on the TOP TEN LIST OF THINGS GOD DOESN’T WANT YOU TO DO. But then being a bald face lying sack of crap seems to be a badge of honor for the GOP.
