GOP Ohio Gov Makes Clear Biden Is POTUS-Elect Amid Most GOPers’ Refusal To Do So | Talking Points Memo

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) on Thursday clearly acknowledged that President-elect Joe Biden won the presidential election amid most Republicans’ reluctance to do so, as President Trump refuses to concede and attempts to delegitimize the election process.

I’m beside myself right now. I’ve had enough. I’ve seen enough. I want him out of the WH and back to Mar a Lardo fast, like a hissing cockroach juiced on angel dust scuttling towards a crevice in a baseboard.

“We need to consider the former vice president as the president-elect,” DeWine said during an interview on CNN Thursday morning. “Joe Biden is the president-elect.”

As the GOP leadership responds forcefully and righteously, as usual…

It appears as though this facade should be ending in about a week or two. With more and more Republicans breaking rank and acknowledging Biden’s victory, it becomes harder for the ones denying it to go forward. Once the Secretaries of state start certifying the results, they’ll be nothing more for team Trump to do but mope.

O/T but
DeWine — who served as the co-chair of Trump’s re-election committee in Ohio, which the President has been projected to win by 8 percentage points

Can someone enlighten me as to what the hell is happening in Ohio?

I can’t believe how weak the entire republican party is.

I would be interested in knowing who’s sent word to back away slowly from Trump. Is it Murdoch, corporate CEOs making the call, or someone else. Because the ground is definitely moving.

Have coworkers who are the exact opposite in their feelings.

The excuses I hear have me daily SMH.

Makes me wonder if even Republicans are beginning to finally realize that a second Trump term could well lead to over 5 million Americans dead, and more importantly to them, an economy that’s DOA.

“I’m a former prosecutor,” DeWine told CNN on Thursday morning. “I’m a great believer in the ability to have your courts and go in to make your case and they have every right to do that and that looks like what they are trying to do.”

What DeWine did not say out loud - but you can tell he is thinking:

… but when you have no substance to support your case & all you are doing is trying to waste the court’s time and baselessly obstruct the inevitable - then it becomes unethical - and is time to stop .

Clearly the man is a stable genius. Or he’s the golden goose. But the most important skill a president has is getting good TV ratings.

OH is a rural state (red) with several (blue) Metropolitan areas. It was known as the Western Resrrve for a reason. Rs have rural and as often discussed blue collar support. As business moved south chasing more favorable wages, taxes and other support, city populations dwindled and remaining blue collar workers bought into Trump’s populist garbage.

We are a long way from the days of Howard Metzenbaum. He left the Senate in 1995.
