GOP Masks Tiny Infrastructure Counter-Offer With Lofty Claims And Muddied Numbers

A group of GOP senators made the cynical and likely futile move on Thursday of responding to President Biden’s infrastructure plan with a proposal that accounts for around a tenth of the spending that the White House has proposed.

I think it’s possible they’re gonna get pilloried for this, AND

2022 looms.

I don’t think they’re happy.

The GQP does “tiny” better than anyone.

Seems to me they’re numbly going through the motions.

Who and by whom? Screeching pundits will screech about no cooperation from Dems. Ho hum.

“There’s a tremendous amount of money that was approved in previous bills, trillions of dollars,

I’m good with that approach. Let’s start with the defense budget.

Sorry to be so crass… BUT FUCK the GOP.

They are never ever going to do anything that could be perceived to benefit a Democrat

Joe, it’s past time to tell the American people that the Republicans are not acting in good faith to do what is necessary for the nation’s health and well-being.

And let’s get through what needs to happen, without them.

Dems. continue to waste time playing with Lucy. Bipartisanship is so much more important than keeping voters informed of the Republicon attacks on voting rights. Perhaps there’s a master plan for retaining control of congress that will be revealed just before November 2022. Yea. That must be it.

“…scavenge unused money from elsewhere.”

That’s what they like most of all: making Americans grovel and grub for money like hermits living in caves instead of proud citizens living in the #1 country on the planet.

That’s not so crass for current times.

The continuing talk about rethugs being able to gerrymander districts for 2022 has a few holes. Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan and Wisconsin, all states heavily gerrymandered after the 2010 census, have Democratic Governors this time around. Assuming redistricting has to be legislated and signed by the governor should lead to better balance, consequently more D reps.

ETA. North Carolina and Pennsylvania have already been slapped by the courts.

Playing it straight on ANY issue is not their strong suit…Mc Connells interview following the offer invoked a human like Muppet going through the tired motions…

No need to apologize.

Replace “a Democrat” with “anyone not wealthy and connected”

Talk to Joe Manchin, then. He’s the one who keeps things mucked up by his refusal to recognize the times we live in.

The eagerness of conservatives to avoid paying taxes has left our infrastructure in shabby condition.

Every factory shipped overseas, every corporate tax cut, every claimed phantom business loss that was upheld as a legitimate tax deduction on behalf of greedy special interests has led us to a state of affairs where some states have dug up paved roads and replaced the asphalt with gravel to reduce recurring maintenance costs, and some cities are running drinking water through dangerous lead pipe.

This poverty of spirit threatens the livelihood, strength and spirit of this country. Where we as a nation once took pride in having the best and most modern facilities, and the best trained — and highest paid — workforce, now we cry that our nation is broke, that we can’t afford the things a great and powerful nation can.

Correct. The rest of the country has moved beyond the GOP Talking Points. That has been evident to most people O.O.T.C.

Well, with Kevin McCarthy ‘leading’ them, they’re bound to wander about aimlessly, getting stuck in chimneys and wainscoting, and requiring a veritable army of exterminators to clean them away.

Also, states like Illinois and New York that lose a seat should be able to make that loss a Repug seat. Whereas States that gained population like Texas will have more issues making the new seats Repug seats.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

It’s time to give the GQP enough rope—which Biden is doing—so that the American people can see for themselves (again) that the GQP doesn’t negotiate in good faith.

Telling them would only make Joe look like the bad guy—they have to figure it out for themselves.
