GOP Leadership Not Worried About Forcing Members To Go On Record On Worst Of DOGE

The White House finally sent over a rescissions package request — a move the administration has been dragging its feet on for months — asking Republicans in Congress to swallow a chunk of the sweeping cuts that Elon Musk has enacted with his DOGE destruction so far this year. While the request only includes a…

House Republican leadership almost immediately pushed back on the CBO’s estimate. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) slammed the CBO report at a press conference Wednesday morning.

“I get that we got to play by the rules of the referee, but the referee’s been wrong. We’ve got a referee that tries to sack our quarterback a lot,” Scalise said.

In other words, the CBO told the truth and the GQP can’t handle the truth. I’m still looking for someone to suggest disbanding or defunding the CBO. It’s not question the GQP is trying to work the refs.

Attacking LBGTQ people, foreigners, and public broadcasting are at the heart of being a Republican. It’s the platform they run on.

There is no chance that this “rescissions” package will not pass, despite someone like Collins having the vapors. It’s as Republican as it gets, something to brag about.

Anyone thinking Ron Johnson is going to save us from anything let alone Donald Trump needs to think again.

But what gets me, while not reported in TPM’s column, is the return to the zombie big lie claim that tax cuts for billionaires pay for themselves. I heard that big lie claim from Thune today.

It probably won’t be but even if the package is voted down the lawless stink remains: instead of guarding and exercising the legislatures’ constitutionally mandated role, Republican leadership intends to act as if suborning and reversing that role is legitimate.

Profiles in cowardly bullshit. Instead of the oath of office, jackasses like Johnson and Thune might as well have recited “Mary had a little lamb” for all the understanding of sworn duty they demonstrate.

Let them all go on record for this bright idea. Raising it to 69??? Seriously, they just want you to die before you ever collect a penny.

rescinding the $9.4 billion in federal spending that they appropriated

Multiple Republican screw-ups.

And at the end of the day, Republicans won’t give a single dime back to the people who gave them their money in faith that it would be handled with the utmost respect.

Instead, Republicans just take.

How is the younger generation going to handle those folks they bellyached about not getting out of the way for their progression, now being forced to be in their way? Shoot, it will even screw up training opportunities if the old guy with that experience and background is hanging around a few more years.

This will be interesting to watch play out. Trump is screwing several generations at the same time.

$9.4 billion in wasteful foreign aid spending at the State Department and USAID and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds NPR and PBS.

$9.4 billion - that Congress passed is now wasteful. Who’s gonna tell them that this is their own doing?

Re: the Midterm Election.
Heck, it’s a year and a half out. Given that the last four months have seemed like an eternity, and nobody can even remember what life was like under Zombie Joe Biden (he was bad, wasn’t he? does anybody recall?), by the time campaigning starts for the 2026 election, no one will remember anything that happened in the immediate future.

Oh, and how come this “recission” thingy gets to make it through the Senate, no filibustering allowed? When Democrats run the Senate, the Parliamentarian (may her name be blessed) won’t let them get more than a single (1) recission bill in a lifetime. But the Republicans get all they want??

Trump calls for scrapping debt limit

“I am very pleased to announce that, after all of these years, I agree with Senator Elizabeth Warren on SOMETHING. The Debt Limit should be entirely scrapped to prevent an Economic catastrophe. It is too devastating to be put in the hands of political people that may want to use it despite the horrendous effect it could have on our Country and, indirectly, even the World. As to Senator Warren’s second statement on the $4 Trillion Dollars, I like that also, but it would have to be done over a period of time, as short as possible. Let’s get together, Republican and Democrat, and DO THIS!”

If we scrap the debt limit why do we still have to kick poor people off Medicaid and SNAP benefits?

I was thinking, he was that one guy we all had in high school. Lurking about, trying to manipulate people, starting fights then hiding from them and generally being slime.
