This reminds of the recent story about a brewery tap room manager who said on the stand that he didn’t know his black employee was black. When that happened, a lawyer friend of mine said that is one of the worst things a witness can do; juries and judges react in a strongly negative way when you claim ignorance about something completely obvious. It is especially dubious when the witness itself is a lawyer.

This was one of the last things I heard as I headed out the door for awhile. Obviously it was his most ridiculous attempt to sidestep the importance of tRump actually trying to smear a current opponent in the 2020 election. All of his utterances are being done for an audience of one, and all of it is in bad faith. Playing dumb seems to be this guy’s fallback position in this investigation when the questions touch on the truth. The Republicans mostly want to smear Schiff now to take the focus off of tRump. Same as it always is. tRump needs a way to redirect and if the Republicans have learned anything in these last three years its how to change the subject or entertain a diversion.

The courts already ruled he can’t block people. I don’t know whether he still does or not but I suspect he does … because unbridled lawlessness.
I once had a juror do a big dramatic head-nod while mouthing the word “Yes!” when the witness had evaded making a blindingly obvious admission three times before the question was asked for the fourth time. Things did not go well for that witness when the verdict came back.
