GOP Guvs Appear Set On Attending And Speaking At NRA Meeting

Perhaps another defamation lawsuit is appropriate to get him to shut his effing mouth.

It’s totally wrong to keep NRA members from packing heat at their conventions. What’s good for school children has to be even better for them.

I think insurance law reform will be a key component to any true solution. Personally, I like this suggestion:

“I absolutely think insurance can make Americans safer without limiting our right to bear arms," Gear says. “Rather than limiting guns, we can insist the makers, sellers and buyers of guns have enough liability insurance to cover the harm that could result if an adult misuses the firearm or lets it reach the wrong hands. The state crime victims compensation fund would get the insurance proceeds when a gun crime or accident occurs. The more victims or damage, the bigger the payout. This should reduce gun violence, since insurance is very effective in getting people to adopt safer practices in return for lower premiums.”

As for cases when mentally ill individuals commit a mass shooting, the liability law would work even if they didn’t have liability insurance for their guns. “By insisting that, for uninsured guns, the last good insurance pays out, we avoid the problem,” says Gear. “Suddenly sellers have an interest in avoiding sales to nut jobs, and they determine for themselves how much of an appetite for risk they and their insurance carrier will have.”

Basically, every gun owner is required to have liability insurance that covers if they misuse it. If they (illegally) do not have that insurance, you can go after the last person who sold that gun that did have such insurance.

The gun nuts will scream about that last part, but its long past we hold people accountable for who they sell or share their guns with.

Actually, I believe I was asked such a question on a questionnaire when I started treating with a new medical group.

My husband had lots of guns, but he was responsible and only used them at the range. When he passed away, I asked my brother and sister who are both retired law enforcement officers, to search the house and his vehicle for them.

I legally transferred all of the guns to my husband’s friend about nine months ago and the one gun that could not be legally transferred was taken to the police department for surrender.

Because I am now an older woman living alone, I had a security system put in (even though I feel safe in my neighborhood) and use it and the dachshunds for security.

Good. My answer was flip so I’m glad it’s not true everywhere.

No, your answer was not flippant at all.

Is Noem Michele Bachman’s niece? Or did her stylist just lean into crazy-eye shading since insanity has metastacized within the Trump Party?

I think we here on the forum need to pause and think with regret that 45* wasn’t there at the school that day to run in and take down the shooter like he told us he would definitely have done in the incredibly heroic fashion that comes naturally to him.

Too bad we can’t adapt this technique to apply it to legislators who enact legislation permitting people to own and carry guns and weapons of war.

The sound bites from these governors’ speeches will make excellent fodder for their opponents when they are up for re-election.

It is simply amazing that these corrupt guys running Texas haven’t been rounded up by the FBI yet. Hopefully this year?
