Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) on Sunday swatted down the possibility of throwing his support behind former President Trump’s potential 2024 White House comeback bid while arguing that Trump “should not define” the future of the Republican Party.
I hope he has a good security detail.
The GOP is trying very hard to get over Trump right now. He’s like an addiction for them. They keep swearing him off, then going back on a binge whenever they’re too weak to resist. I wonder if “Trump Anonymous” centers might start opening up in Red States all across America. It might be a good business for anyone interested.
Always good to hear a little sanity out of the Republican party, but it is almost always coming from someone who is not going up for reelection or someone from a blue state or purple district. I will believe that it is no longer the party of Trump when the republicans in red districts have the courage to speak against him.
Very interesting that we have a very public divide in dark-red Arkansas, just as Sarah the Huckster Sanders gears up for a run at the Governorship. I don’t claim to know Arkansas in any depth, but I suspect Hutchinson and Hendren are tilting at Quixotian windmills, though I respect their statements.
Some one is missing the message.
Not until they admit that they have a problem. And by the looks of the Trump yard signs that I’m still seeing, they’re not there yet.

Yeah, right. He is under the same delusions as the Never Trumpers who opened their festering yaps before talking to their pollsters in 2016. Trump activated the racist fuckers and the GOP now needs them.

I am glad that Hutchinson makes a stand against Trump 2024. As President Orange would be a stain defining Republican politics, his presence would also color American politics.
Right now, though, I hear the clown car gestapo revving their engines for a run against Hutchinson. He’d better look out after he’s done laughing.

But then I was like, “OMG, this sounds about right!”

What Asa Hutchinson doesn’t understand is that Trump didn’t create the base. The base created Trump. That process started with Nixon. It’s not going away anytime soon.
Governor, 94% of Republicans voted for Trump in 2020.
He’s leading your party.
All you can do is follow or get out of the way.
The fact that our corporate media is pushing this ‘Trump 2024’ bullshit really shows how for the MSM Trumps ratings are more important to them than any damage he causes to our country, minorities, or democracy in general.
He’s not running in 2024! Stop talking about it. Hell he didn’t want the job in the first place. Remember he was just running to shit on the black man who had the gaul to jokingly insult him at a dinner after Trump questioned his Americanness for years. He’s going to be 78 in 2024, there’s no damn way he wants to be the president again. He’s returning to his life of doing whatever he wants to now and he’s not going to go back to all the ‘annoying things’ for him that comes with the presidency. He doesn’t want to live in the White House again, he just wants to lob the occasional bomb from his beach resort sidelines. Come on, these CNN talking heads know this.
The real problem is the next person who might be competent that the deplorable, QAnon, racist, hate filled GOP base latch on to, not Trump. It’s not “Trumps’ party, Trump was the symptom of the shitty GOP base, that’s who GOP politicians need to denounce, not Trump.
