I wish the media, and TPM in particular, would stop talking about Greene “sparking fears” of Trump’s continued influence over the GOP. We’ve had almost total silence from him, thank God. Greene and Gaetz are opportunists who will stop at nothing to rally his base and pick up their support. It will continue to be divorced from Trump, and his influence continues to wane. The base is something else. An assortment of clowns (or John Kennedy O’Toole’s novel) are not going to be able to tap into that in an effective way. There is no discipline. Even Trump’s own downfall was a lack of discipline. He’s lazy and essentially incompetent. Unless he continues to address rallies (on his own dime? I highly doubt it), he’s lost his movement.

My wish is that coverage of any and all GOP figures would end including 45, Greene and any and all RWNs, but I understand why it won’t end. These stories enrage and excite and get eyes and consequently posts on the story.
Keep fingers crossed, but so far Greene’s riding the money train and if she has support from the loser and only weasel words from Craven, she has no reason to stop and also retire.

In 2022 use Marjorie Taylor Greene the same way that the right wing used AOC. Run ads in every district that is not 100% Q that show her and the Capitol riot as a reason not to vote GOP.

His short analysis is too simplistic. With the GOP there’s always things going on underneath the murky surface.
And he’s ignoring the corporate money factor in this analysis. They do not want to be associated with the crazies and alienate the majority of consumers. Nor do they want to possibly be subject to civil liability, which could happen by backing the crazies.That will leave the GOP to small donors, a relatively handful of wealthy (some of whom are getting cold feet too), and dark (especially foreign and laundered) money, on which the Democrats are shining a spotlight.
Letting absolute lunatics (or cynics pandering only to lunatics) completely take over your party is not a winning strategy.
