This ain’t “flirting.” It’s a constant frantic drumbeat all over right wing media right now, has been since Biden won and it is part of the feedback loop of radicalization that they are caught in. Accountability and consequences and prevention measures and otherwise dealing with the extremism they have intentionally created and are not entirely reliant upon…all of it is being deliberately mischaracterized, demagogued and internalized as Orwellian Nazification of the country and an expanding existential threat against “real America” and the white Christian conservatives who are the only people to possess the right to such a moniker…just like the demographic shifts are that lie at the blackened heart of their entire downward spiral. At this point there is pretty much NOTHING that they can allow to escape the prism of existential threat. And that means further radicalization, broader and deeper extremism and escalating violence.
They literally have nothing else left. I said “nothing’s off limits” before. Think of the universe of what that might entail as a snowball rolling down the mountain, ever expanding, ever gaining mass and momentum and the GOP powerless to stop it, because they’ve trapped themselves at its center. This all gets worse, much MUCH worse, before it gets better…if it even does get better.
