Critical Race Theory
It’s the new tRump for some people.
Squeaky Wheels.
Leveling with readers has been around long before CRT.
The GOP is very good at messaging…and it is a shame, because, stated the right way, most discussions with the term “race” as a focus simply need to be de-tangled from tribalism in order to get to First Base.
At my neighbors July 4th barbecue with a lot of Trump loving Christians (a few wearing Liberty University tee shirts) they’ve clearly added “wokeness” to their God loving vocabulary.
“Stop trying to cancel my right to be an ignorant revisionist historian, y’all!”
And mentally comatose to their daily routine.
The strength–and weakness–of Trumpism are the fact that both depend on Trump and his being shackled (or not) by criminal/civic prosecution.
And, notwithstanding Trump’s abilities to deflect, he is in a precarious legal state.
Best of luck finding that many signatures for each member of the SF Unified School Board
Talk about Quixotic obsessions. They haven’t gotten this stupid since Anita Bryant.
Oh, FFS.
Is it just me or does there seem to be an epidemic of brain rot affecting the majority of RWNJs recently? The level of craziness feels like it has increased exponentially, with no end in sight.
I’ve heard this claim numerous times… and it might be correct. However, I got to wondering if it’s not so much that they are good at messaging as it is that the kinds of people who are attracted to the GOP happen to be easily swayed by simple arguments, regardless of the merits of the arguments.
Race-baiting is the single most time-honored political strategy in American history, largely because its audience is so receptive to it.
1/6 was their commencement as they graduated from whatever moorings they had left. They are afraid, hold views that are destructive to those around them, exhibit extreme victimhood and want any excuse to run away from truths.
Truths if understood and respected, would require performance and change on their part. When you accept a fact and a reality, you are beholden to it and bear some responsibility living with that truth. And that responsibility is the scariest, most onerous thing you can ask of them.
@dannydorko and @txlawyer…
Both of you hit Home Runs. No need to say anything more with what you both already know.
The GQP are masters at it…
Could we just get down to brass tacks and start calling, as a given, that Republicans are dangerous and bad people. No more dancing around trying to consider their tender feelings and make them see the light. Maybe that hedonistic Hollywood crowd could start coming up with message films portraying the rabid, Trumper Republican as the antagonist.
CRT should be re-dubbed the Cynical Racist Trope
It is fuckery like this that makes me want to abandon the teaching profession. Two-thirds of my students, all racial minorities, know that systemic racism exists. There exists the possibility that I and my colleagues will be compelled to deal with the minority of the White population who view the examination of systemic racism as venomous propaganda. The devaluing of education during the previous forty years is partially to blame for the mainstreaming of white suprematist shit like this.
I believe that there is a small sector of Trumpers whose calculus would allow for cooperation with us…
