The looming standoff over the debt limit has been telegraphed for months. And now, just days into the new Congress, it has arrived.

The GOP’s War on America must succeed. Heil!

Bacon started the GOP campaign to get the media to ask, ‘but why won’t the Democrats and WH negotiate? Can’t they agree to cut spending and reduce the deficit to live within our means?’. The Dems can’t waver here. I’m not worried about Biden or Senate Dems. It’s not their first rodeo. House Dems can sometimes have loose cannons. Jeffries has to keep his folks in line. No negotiating with terrorists.

So how does this.play out? Repugs flat out refuse to bring a vote to the floor?

Far better to get the shaft and a crushing defeat in '24 but, yeah, ‘nothing’ is a reasonable second best I suppose as long as it’s understood there is no third best.

The Biden Administration saw how well negotiating with terrorists went for Kevin during the 15 Leadership votes and realized they didn’t want to take that approach.

It’s nice to have a new topic on a holiday

Kevin is just smart enough to realize he is caught in the jaws. You can see it in his eyes.

He has all the longevity of Liz Truss: flail away, your whacky dolt, flail away.

As the headline implies, don’t negotiate with terrorists.

This is about PAYING FOR WHAT WE ALREADY BOUGHT. What is there to negotiate? Seriously, what? You pay your bills, period. ESPECIALLY when you are the federal government!

"I want our side to negotiate with the Democrats in good faith”
Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) said in an interview with ABC This Week on Sunday.

Bacon’s party tried to overturn a free and fair election in USA while Putin engages in imperialism. Putin committing war atrocities and targeting children and other civilians in his endeavor.

Bacon’s party committed a massive fraud against the US, and a violent attempt at overthrow of our system.

Mr. Pork, Mr. Bacon, whatever your name is …
do not ever again utter those words –
"good faith."

Sheesh!

The administration also learned their lesson from the 2011 tea bagger induced shut down as well as the 2013 Ted Cruz Green eggs and ham inspired government shut down that led to a drop in the nation’s credit rating.

For the record I am in no way related to Don Bacon who is deluded enough to believe that Republicans will actually bargain in good faith with Democrats about anything.

Discharge petition. It was part of the deal McQ made with the crazies. But not a crazy option.

He may want it, but reactionaries doing anything in good faith will be a sure sign Hell has frozen over. It’s not gonna happen.

All Dems. need to do is work on their talking points. They should start by reminding all Dems. to call it the Republican Debt Default. Over and over again, so there’s no doubt in voters minds who owns this. And instead of talking about negotiating with terrorists, they should just say McCarthy is controlled by Economic Hostage-takers, so it is clear in the voters minds what is going on. Let’s see how long before the money behind both parties tells one side to cave.

If we go the discharge petition route, do we have any ‘moderate’ republicans who want to take this off ramp? From my maths (which can be poor), we need just five, correct?

Josh has mentioned the repubs in NY State who won in what were considered ‘safe’ dem districts - do we have enough?

Democrats want them to negotiate in good faith too. Yet the Democrats know better. Hard for the 'Pubes to carry a big stick in these negotiations, when they are all just a bunch of little dicks.

I find it hard to believe that a party has so hoodwinked millions that they’ll get behind cutting Social Security and Medicare. And as per usual, the GOP has coalesced around a term – “spending.” It ain’t “spending,” it’s making good on the government’s already-present obligations. You say “potato,” I say “sarsaparilla.”
