GOP Chair: No Reply To Romney Backlash | Talking Points Memo

So much for blood is thicker than water.

Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel dodged when asked to respond to the GOP backlash her uncle Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) has faced since being one of two Republicans who voted in favor of witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial Friday.

Here are the things that we all and especially everybody in the media needs to remember: There are no good Republicans. There is no such thing as a Republican moderate. Republicans are craven to the core. Republicans would sell their grandmothers’ souls if doing so would allow them to hold on to power for a few more weeks. Republicans will vote for party over country every damn time.

“That is a completely inappropriate question,” she added. “We’re here to celebrate the day Donald Trump officially became Fuehrer.”

“I disagree that the President’s changed the Republican Party. I think the President’s strengthened our party.”

How, exactly, is “strengthening” something not changing it?

Even if we grant all of their own absurd premises, you still can’t make any sense out of the argument.

McDaniel then sang Trump’s praises.

Can’t wait to see Trump force McDaniel (is that still her name?) to cut a commercial renouncing Mitt. Isn’t that what Stalin would have done?

He didn’t change the party. He just let it run through the streets naked and screaming, shooting everything in its way.

“So much for blood is thicker than water.”

Old news. She used to use her whole name, including her middle name, Romney, until she became a GOP official and was told that just wouldn’t do under this president.

I understand the East German Stasi were quite adept at getting children to denounce their own parents.

The mentality of “orthodoxy” is that “We didn’t change; we are the pure remnant. The infidels changed, and so must be banished from our midst.”

People who won’t defend family, especially when they’ve done nothing criminal, are not respectable, honorable, or likable. I think that’s a position that cuts across all ideologies.

A person who won’t defend their family is a person who won’t defend their country.

Denouncing parents is easy. Pol Pot killed a third of his Population by arming 8th grade girls to kill the bad people.

The Civil War was the worst thing that ever happened to this country. It pitted brother against brother and resulted in nearly half of all the deaths of members of the military in US history (wasn’t great for the civilians either). There is no middle ground for these people, apparently the same people that wanted a civil war last time around. Let’s just back this off and let Trump to pasture to produce his own reality show “The Sorest Loser”.
