[Attorney General Todd Rokita] attacked “this ploy of holding up food assistance for low-income kids…"

Almost funny that the Biden administration tricked rightwinger governors into championing the delivery of food to the low income people in their state

So poor LGBTQ+ students should starve? Gee, how Christian is that? These GQP AGs are even more fascist that I thought.

They sure love those fed dollars as long as having it doesn’t require them to stop being dicks. And while we’re on the subject of federal assistance to red bigoted states. I sure hope Utah doesn’t expect any of my federal tax money to fix this.

Not my brine, not my brine shrimp.

Weeel. Given that smoke from fires in Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana drifts over Seattle, I’m not 100% sure that the arsenic dust is going to politely stay put over Utah. It’d be nice if they’d try not flagrantly wasting water as a first step, though

Most of the shrinkage is owing to profligate water use with a smaller component from climate change warming. My point is that if a state belongs to the Union, we share the wealth and we share the costs. They shouldn’t get to pick and chose based on whether or not the support is going to people they don’t like. And using the law to “beat those people up” is unAmerican.

I am so fucking sick of these right wing nut jobs trying to gaslight me and saying they’re not coming after our kids, our marriages, our relationships, and our very right to exist! They are coming for us. We are not safe.

Of course my AG has put MO on that naughty list of 22.

Attorney General Todd Rokita, one of two attorneys general leading the suit, wrote on Twitter Tuesday that President Joe Biden “wants Indiana schools to submit to the Left’s extremist transgender ideology.” In a statement, he attacked “this ploy of holding up food assistance for low-income kids unless schools do the Left’s bidding.”

Ideology that there cis gendered, transgendered, and nonbinary people in this world? Aren’t we all human beings? Some more enlightened that others, but everyone deserves to eat.

Not being satisfied ripping children from the area of their parents, they now have a new boogie man to pursue…hungry kids. How low can they go? We are so lucky to live in two states that treat their citizens with respect. CA and OR. Feel free to move to either so you, too, can be happy.

Agreed. Just pointing out that “fine be that way” isn’t really an option for us either. Something’s got to give though. Letting a fascist exploit your mutual aid pact, ala Orban and the EU, has pretty obvious drawbacks.

But being unshame-able has pretty big advantages in an otherwise civil society. All those clods who voted against hurricane Sandy relief didn’t even blink when it came time to beg for aid for a southern state a few months later. I wish I knew what the answer is.

Trump’s very presence on the political scene is the energy for all these reactionaries. These behaviors ALL took off when Trump’s Vengeance Escalator came down in 2015.

Don’t these Republican attorneys general have state crimes to prosecute? I hear there are people all over the place saying “gay.” These people are not going to prosecute themselves, you know.

I’m going rant on this some more.

People on the Left believe in feeding kids, period, end stop.
So is it Rokita’s position that all kids from pre-school through high school must declare their sexual identity? And to be absolutely fair square about it all students must submit to the questioning whether their parent(s) income is low enough to qualify for a free lunch? Will starving a kid make them change their sexual orientation?

This has been broiling long before Trump rode the escalator down. (you know there was the sign, it right there in front of us the from the beginning)

The GOP distilled to their essence, pure hatred of anyone not them. They are all in for short term gain derived from attacking little kids. Rather than fear them we should shame them. They are shameful.

The lawsuit cited existing red state laws that “at least arguably conflict” with the USDA guidance, such as rules prohibiting transgender students from participating in sports programs that align with their gender identity, rather than the gender they were assigned at birth.

This is frankly absurd. I don’t agree with it, but there is a certain logic in maintaining clear gender boundaries in athletics . . . but surely that kind of reasoning does not extend to the need to eat.
