World leaders across the globe are denouncing President Donald Trump’s attacks against “the squad,” particularly tweets that catalyzed the “send her back!” chants about Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) this week.
These denunciations are what Trump lives for. He’d love nothing better than for the UN to unanimously denounce him, every nation on the planet expressing their displeasure. This is his oxygen.
Trump is simultaneously attacking the four elected officials, those who voted for them, and the entire electoral process. Trump cannot tolerate dissent and condemns and bullies those who disagree with him. He condemns alleged behavior that he excuses in himself. He is a liar, a hypocrite, unpatriotic, unAmerican, and disdainful of the laws and Constitution of the U.S. He is unworthy of the office.
Trump to his base: See? That’s the consequence of having a female leader! They welcome non-white people! You don’t want that? Vote for me!
Never a fan of these people! Three of them are losing their jobs! Losers! Their countries are a mess! Only I can MAGA!
Still, one understands why Merkel et al. spoke up.
It’s not going to help Omar directly, and may even be used to hurt her – but if historians keep tracking the “end” of “the American Century,” this kind of thing will figure prominently.
“They’re all socialists! What do you expect! Besides, Merkle and May aren’t hot, so who cares what they think. And that Arden chick is OK, but she doesn’t look like she’s from New Zealand, if you know what I mean.” Tweet in three… two,… one…
Just so we’re clear - leaders from other countries understand and appreciate America better than republican representatives and senators. So much patriotism. So much winning.
Well, they’re foreign leaders, and muted language is more common in that context. But the talk of denunciations ‘raining down’ is unwarranted hyperbole. Four? From the title, I was expecting at least ten.
