Giuliani’s Lawyer Releases Manic Statement On ‘Disturbing’ DOJ Search Warrants | Talking Points Memo

Rudy Giuliani posted a rambling statement from his lawyer Wednesday night calling the search warrants executed on former mayor’s home and apartment a “disturbing example of complete disregard for the attorney-client privilege protected by the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution.” The statement claimed that the Justice Department was “running roughshod over the constitutional rights” of anyone who represented former President Trump.

The statement claimed that the Justice Department was “running roughshod over the constitutional rights” of anyone who represented former President Trump.

And yet,

Robert Costello, Giuliani’s attorney, told the Wall Street Journal that the warrant cited potential violations of foreign lobbying laws and that it targeted Giuliani’s commutations with columnist John Solomon, a key figure in ex-President Donald Trump’s Ukraine quid pro quo scheme.

“It is outrageous that the Trump Derangement Syndrome has gone so far…"

I agree.

Just a quick note: Costello has been Giuliani’s attorney for a couple of years now. He has also represented Bannon.

I guess he’s just publicly stated that he has evidence of Hunter Biden’s crimes, but that he hasn’t turned it over voluntarily. Sounds like an admission of guilt in preventing the investigation of those alleged crimes?

From Costello’s statement (emphasis mine):

Keep in mind that the agents could not read the physical hard drives without plugging them in, but they took Mr. Giuliani’s word that the hard drives were copies of Hunter Biden’s hard drive and did not contain anything pertaining to Mr. Giuliani. Think about what that tells you. Their reliance on Mr. Giuliani’s credibility tells you everything you need to know about this case.

What that last sentence tells me is that the agents were confident they had solid information and knew exactly what they were looking for.

As an indication of how serious this investigation is, they served search warrants to not one, but two attorneys in Trump’s orbit yesterday. While I’m not a lawyer, I understand DoJ thinks long and hard before doing such things, but needless to point out, a judge obviously agreed with the investigators.

Disturbing?!?” Really?

I was actually quite turbed by the DoJ search of Giuliani’s home.

“The statement claimed that the Justice Department was ‘running roughshod over the constitutional rights’ of anyone who represented former President Trump.”

Except, you kind of have to assume from the get-go that any lawyer representing Trump is involved in a criminal enterprise and trying to engage in or cover up multiple federal and state crimes.

“Rudy Giuliani is a great patriot. He does these things — he just loves this country, and they raid his apartment,” Trump told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo in an interview. “It’s, like, so unfair and such a double — it’s like a double standard like I don’t think anybody’s ever seen before.”

“I don’t know what they’re looking for, what they’re doing. They say it had to do with filings of various papers, lobbying filings,” Trump said, going on to allege — without offering evidence — illegal foreign lobbying by President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

“It’s a very, very unfair situation,” Trump said. “You have to understand Rudy. Rudy loves this country so much. It is so terrible when you see things that are going on in our country, with the corruption and the problems. And then they go after Rudy Giuliani. It’s very sad, actually.”

“Of course, I’m sure you will not be surprised that the FBI left behind the only electronics that contain evidence of crimes, the Hunter Biden hard drives,” the statement said.

So, Rudy has been withholding evidence of criminal activity from law enforcement?
