Wouldn’t the most cost effective approach have been to comply with the subpoena in the first place, rather than wasting the court’s time with a challenge they knew was doomed and had no intention of pursuing?

One exception in the new law should give the VP the unilateral power to disqualify and render uncountable all electoral college votes for the one-term ex-President Donald J Trump.
The reason why the GQP will ignore it is because they know SCOTUS will use the shadow docket to rush the case up to them, where they will find the law unconstitutional. Alito will write the opinion wherein he uses a 15th century witch trial as the basis for his opinion.

If Biden’s DoJ under AG Garland finds that several states disregard their own State Constitutions and appoints fake Electors that are NOT duly elected by the people BEFORE the “Safe Harbor” date, and objects to it, that is NOT a coup, that is enforcing the law. I hope Garland is prepared to head this off in 2024, because you KNOW it is coming !
