In an interview in the New York Times on Friday, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani vaguely discussed a meeting he’d had with the Justice Department regarding a foreign bribery case Giuliani described as “very, very sensitive.”
He’s aiming for the wrong standard. He should be “Very legal and cool”.
He could take tips from Michael Avenatti on keeping a low profile.
One tip—get arrested.
As someone who worked in one of the Mayoral offices during Rudy’s tenure, I find this statement about his always wanting to be “super-ethical” to be risible. Rudy always bent the rules to benefit his own political fortunes, browbeating City agencies to do his bidding over their legitimate objections. He was a grifter then and is a grifter now; he’s just moved to a bigger stage.
I’m sure his three ex-wives may have a thing or two to say about his “super-ethics”? Didn’t he announce one of his divorces at a press conference before telling his wife about it?
Came hear to say that. He knows he’s on thin ice, acting as a foreign agent/lobbyist without registering. I just hope he’s eventually taken down on more serious charges, like extortion or conspiracy to defraud the US.
Giuliani Insists He Tries ‘Very Hard’ To Be ‘Super Ethical And Always Legal’
I can totally sympathize with Rudy, I try to be Super sober and always chaste… and I got as bad results as he does (although since turning 55 i got a lot much better at the latter)
That—didn’t make sense. Either he’s senile or he fancies himself a brilliantly clever manipulator who can talk his way out of any jam, when in fact he isn’t that at all, he’s more a babbling wise guy dope.
yeah, I’m waiting for Rudy to explain how asking the Trump administration for a visa for Slotkin was not a violation of FARA. I mean, who is the domestic client being served by this kind of lobbying effort? Certainly, it wouldn’t be Trump, because Trump doesn’t need a personal lawyer to lobby his underlings for them to do (completely legal and above board) things like granting visas.
The Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys don’t say you are supposed to “try” to be ethical and to avoid breaking the law. They say you “must” act ethically and lawfully. If and when the NY State Bar brings Rudy up on disciplinary charges, I’m sure they will be very impressed that he “tried” to do the right thing…just before they suspend him from practice.
