The attorney said that, because Parnas works for Rudy Giuliani, and Giuliani works for Trump, the case may raise issues of executive privilege.

Huh. Is executive privilege transitive???

Oh please. Oh f’ing please. This is just stupid now.

Giuliani does not work for the White House or the Executive branch. He (maybe) works for Trump personally. There is no executive privilege between them, much less extending to Frick and Frack.

Earlier reports suggested they may raise attorney client privilege based upon their work for Rudy who worked for Trump. Evidently, they decided against this, although executive privilege seems even more harebrained and desperate.

But it is fun to see they are truly desperate. At least we’ve got this.

I was under the impression that EP was thrown out the window when committing a crime.
Parnas paid Giuliani $500K and donated $325K, so who is employing who?
How far down the pecking order does EP extend to employees? The janitor?

This sounds ridiculous.

The caption under the pictures of the two mobsters needs to be fixed.

The judge said that, because Parnas works for Rudy Giuliani,

The attorney said that - which is what the post correctly states.

Guiliani is NOT a federal government employee. In fact, as I understand it, Trump isn’t even paying him for his “legal services” so I would argue even Guiliani doesn’t have the protection of any such privilege

Executive privilege is not in the Constitution or statute. It is a legal construct designed to protect communication between THE PRESIDENT and his/her ASSOCIATES concerning government business. It is not a “get out of jail free card” for anyone who happens to know the President (although the Trump administration seems to think it is since they spread it around to anyone who has ever come into contact with Trump

Only if at some point, Kevin Bacon is involved.

On the flip side, since Rudy worked for Trump and shared what he knows with Lev and Igor (that’s Eye-gor), with Trump’s consent or knowledge, one could argue all executive privilege, as well as attorney-client privilege has been waived.

ETA: And since this may turn out to have been a criminal enterprise involving a fine cast of characters, all privilege of any kind would be out the window.
