Giroir Won’t Rule Out More Restrictions As COVID-19 Cases Surge: ‘Everything Should Be On Table’ | Talking Points Memo

Assistant Secretary of Health Adm. Brett Giroir on Sunday couldn’t deny the possibility of states issuing stricter coronavirus-related restrictions in light of spikes in cases across the country.

The back-down begins…

For a member of this administration, Giroir sounds relatively reality-based. But the main problem is not in the states, it is in the White House. Unless Trump gets his 38% to adhere to these measures rather than rebelling against them, certain places will never get over their spikes.

Nah, just wait for 45 to tweet some nonsense about how the Admiral doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

I’m wondering what all the “patriots” are going to do when their Fearless (sic) Leader tells them to all wear masks.

And a sloppy and inept back down it is. Who would expect any less from the Trump admin toadies? They are truly deplorable.

“Everything should be on the table.” Including Trump’s resignation.

Still unable to say the obvious: Many states have failed to reopen safely.

They need to shutdown, drive the case numbers back down, then try again. Preferably under different leadership.

But only if Trump can squeeze the tweet in among his tweets complaining about Obama golfing (yes, he actually complained today about Obama golfing), BLM, and protecting statues.

Our governor was more oblique. He made clear in his plainest terms yet how he feels about Coloradans and visitors to the state wearing them: “Wear a damn mask!”

Disney World opened in Fl. Florida has had huge increases in numbers on a daily basis and today over 15,000. There’s a photo from the BBC of a huge line waiting to get in.
I ask, what the bloody hell is wrong with these people?

What fucking table are these guys talking about? Everything’s always on it but nothing gets done. Today my state Florida became number 1! That is we had a higher single day COVID confirmations than any other state or European nation. Ever. We had more today than California ( with 3 times our population ) ever had. Than Germany or France too. Now that’s “doin it” !!!

I guess DeSantis is headed out the door. Another asshole that licked Trump’s boots while COVID was putting 2/3’s of it’s boot right up his ass. Over 15,000 people in Florida were diagnosed with COVID today…TODAY…but golly gee we’re going to open them schools and welcome to Disney World…it’s open for biz. So come on down folks. Enjoy the sun and HOT weather ( that did not diminish COVID ) and go to a maskless beach. Better than a topless one. Margaritaville…no mask required.

The rhetoric and actions of this Administration still are not even remotely compatible with the threat level posed by the Coronavirus in places like Texas, Florida, and Arizona.

We’re past the point where simply wearing masks and closing bars is going to solve the problem. We need another shutdown, and right now, at least in those states. It does incalculable harm always being a day late (at least) and a dollar short (at least).

Freedom. We’re exercising our Constitutional right to be dumb fucks. Please join us. The water is warm and you can tease with no mask.

*‘Giroir added that in order to “reverse this problem,” about 90% of people in coronavirus hotspot areas must wear masks in public spaces.’

. . .we have to have about 95% mask-wearing or face coverings,” Giroir said.’*

What’s so hard about saying everybody has to wear a mask in public spaces? Anything less allows the reluctant to rationalize not wearing one. And that’s all they need.

No doubt some ghoul on Trump’s campaign team is digging up dirt on the Admiral as we speak. Like they did to Fauci and tried to do to Vindman, and are continuing to do to the Bidens.

I also heard the Fucking Murderous Moron claim “there was a time and place for masks and since everyone at the White House is tested all the time, there was no need.” I mean seriously. Dryer lint is smarter.

Just remember: McConnell could have him out of office in a week if he wanted.

Remember if we would have listened Trump way back we would not have COVID-19 now.
With all his knowledge of everything he, himself, would have created a vaccine while golfing.

Personally, I just don’t get it. Worrying about either me or my family contracting a deadly virus with each successive breath is just no way to enjoy a vacation. I don’t care how big those giant turkey leg things are.
