Amid catastrophic flooding in the Yellowstone region this week, Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) stayed dry in the Italian countryside – but you wouldn’t know it if you only listened to Gianforte and his office.

The office — which had put out an announcement headlined [“Gov. Gianforte Secures Major Disaster Declaration From Pres. Biden for Severe Flooding”

Translation: “Governor Dickwad Tries to Secure Credit for Actual Work Done by Administration of Actual Public Servant at the Federal Level He Likes to Demonize”

Hiking the Appalachian Trail?

They seek government employment because they do not like government.

It takes a certain kind of willfulness for that to make sense.

Gianforte is a fine example of Republican leadership.

Gianforte’s office also announced that the state had submitted a major disaster declaration and aid request to President Joe Biden

I don’t understand why all these Big Government-hating red state governors always head to DC looking for handouts when there’s a flood or a tornado. Why don’t they just pull themselves up by their bootstraps?

did not say where he’d gone or how long the trip was supposed to last, citing security concerns.

Seriously? The governor has to keep his vacation travel plans secret because of ‘security concerns’? Who’s he afraid of, antifa? Couldn’t he just throw them to the ground? What a tough guy.

Italian countryside or hiking along the Appalachian Trail?

Some governors have been known to cut short their vacations and return immediately at the first sign of a state emergency, as in last Monday at least.

It’s hard to know what he was more concerned about—where he wasn’t, or where he was. Tuscany probably would strike most conservative-type Montanans as pretty la-di-da of a destination. They ain’t even speak English! And try to find any chicken-fried steak!

It is apparent to me that the Gov 0f Montana would rather have his own creature comforts and fine Italian food than looking after the needs of his state and as if he cared about his constituents. Obviously he does not give a shit about his state.

If those Tuscan bad hombres knew there was a Montana USA governor in the area, there’s no telling what they might do (other than ask, “Where’s Montana?” and “Who cares?”).

Just another posturing cheap “man of the people” :face_vomiting: cosplaying grifter.

Hey, the voters voted for the candidate of *LIBERTY! and PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!! So that’s what they’re getting. None of this nanny-state Democratic “aid and assistance.”

Meh… Governor was out of the country and Lt. Gov stepped in. Oddly enough, that’s pretty much exactly how it’s supposed to work, isn’t it?

Although, I do love this
