Georgia Senate Candidate Herschel Walker Debunks Evolution

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.

It turns out that Herschel Walker, former NFL player-turned-Trump-endorsed candidate for Georgia Senate, has some doubts about evolution: During a church event on Saturday, Walker pointed out a gaping hole in the theory that “man came from apes.”

100 years later and the GOP is still trying to dis-Inherit the Wind. Maybe they thought that super smart border wall would help stop it.

Herschel Walker is doing an excellent job of reinforcing the stereotype of the dumb athlete who‘s been hit in the head a few times too many.

He should just shut up and go away.

Wisconsin fake electors - Spindell didn’t recuse himself from this case.

Because of course he didn’t. That would require integrity and he’s a repub.

The Winston-Salem Journal roasted Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), aka “North Carolina’s gift to Crazytown,”

Madcaw’s got a busy schedule ahead of him, and it ain’t about running for congress. His court dates:

  • Polk County (speeding) April 18
  • Buncombe County (speeding) May 3
  • Cleveland County (driving on a revoked license) May 6

The reason why somethings become a stereotype is because there is an element of truth in it. This is one of those times.

Permanent Daylight Savings Time makes no sense. Why not just declare that Pacific states are now on Mountain Standard Time, central states are on Eastern Standard Time, etc.? Depending on which side of the time zone you live, some will benefit and some will end up with really skewed schedules for work and school. Just quit tinkering with it.

Or we should go the Chinese route: force the entire country to operate on Eastern Standard Time. Enjoy those 11 am sunrises, California!

That $800 billion could be a real game changer. (I think you actually mean $800 million.)

Walker should all be rounded up and corralled.

“If that is true, why are there still apes?” the candidate asked. “Think about it.”

Having thought about it, I realize that the GOP needs someone to support it.

Might be a bad idea; he just dodged one attempt to disqualify him from the NC ballot.

  1. Ever been to Alaska in winter? Kinda standard.

  2. You and other folks keep pointing to a later sunrise like it’s a punishment. If you’re in school or working, those are the hours that you’re stuck inside anyways. If you’re retired, that’s a chance to sleep in more.

Herschel’s forthright statement of privileging a religious opinion over Science will play well with the GA GOP base, as should be obvious…
Everyone else will just roll their eyes.
