I have to say listening to all the right wing on this Iran shit sandwich trump crack must be a powerful drug, I guess we will see if there is enough to go around ![]()
That’s all true. It’s also very true that TSF easily manipulated.
I think it comes down to this question: how does the Strait of Hormuz get re-opened? Those vested interests are also monied interests and right now their ideologies are in conflict with their bank accounts, and when the two are in conflict which wins? There are also monied interests that don’t have a particular ideological dog in this hunt and they want the Strait opened up ASAP. What is the maladministration’s best alternative to a negotiated agreement? Apparently, it is to blockade the Strait and stick their metaphoric tongues out at them, saying, “Neener, neener–you can’t close the Straight, ‘coz I already closed it!” That’s not a good alternative, because it leaves the Strait closed and continues crippling the world economy.
Of course, what everyone involved from the Western economies wants is to return to the status on February 27, 2026. But you can’t unscrew that pooch. As nearly as I can tell, the Iranians are pretty content with the current status. TSF is in a bad position: he needs something badly and his negotiating counterpart is out of fucks to give.
