Georgia Republicans Lay Groundwork For Getting Ballots Tossed

I, too, can be counted among those analysts who glibly traded commentary on things like Hitler’s Final Days…or Why did the Germans follow Hitler? (…must be something wrong with the Germans:face_with_monocle:).

Seems a Century ago.

Two thirds of us are a lot wiser now

In response to the @sbscott question up above, why Loeffler and Perdue want Senate seats. It is getting to be like Chump…perhaps their best chance at avoiding the slammer is being a sitting Senator in an R Senate that can help squash investigations and keep them out of the pokey.

Along with everyone else’s suggestions above.

The Republicans… put that number at 32,000… “likely thousands more” — …“double voting.”

Shouldn’t those 32,000 criminals be incarcerated? Or is this one of their “two wrongs make a right”?

Yes–and in any case, what was reported didn’t at all fit with the actual written denial for hearing the case. The “report” presents Thomas as saying that refusing to hear the case would mean “the end of democracy.” While it’s true that Thomas and Alito thought they should hear the case, both agreed that the plaintiffs would not have won.

So, yeah–this fake story is being pushed by some (who, it appears, lack basic reading comprehension skills) as a pretext for impeaching Roberts. This kind of stuff is so dumb–but it’s still potentially dangerous.

All these lawsuits represent proposals the Republicans have the power to implement, and will implement for the next election in 2022. Drop boxes will disappear, voter IDs will be checked for absentees, and new registrations will be restricted. Also gerrymandering.

There will be much to overcome to repeat our performance next time. But in 2001 Democrat Roy Barnes tried a variety of tricks against a rising Republican tide, including multi-member districts. It didn’t work. This won’t either.

Yeah the whole thing is a big ass lie by people who have no idea what they are talking about. But dangerous? I recall all the cries from the right to impeach Earl Warren. There were billboards all over the South. Didn’t do a thing to Warren.

Or, because they have eyes, ears, and a sense of smell.

What happened to the rich and powerful just being happy with endless hookers and blow? When did it all become so complicated? .

I don’t think so. He’s too much of an obvious dweeb even if he hangs with the GOP’s version of cool kids. I still say that what makes Trump so magical, or whatever, to his base are all the vulgarities, his man whoring, the perception that he’s a self-made billionaire, his insanity and stupidity, and just a general sense that he’s like a drunken buddy at the bar that other drunks think ought to be president.

From that piece:

As Biden’s inauguration approaches, Republicans close to the White House told me Trump could be poised for a final round of norm-shattering actions. One source said Trump has discussed a preemptive-pardon blitz of everyone close to him, so Biden’s Justice Department can’t investigate his administration. (A White House spokesperson declined to comment.) “Trump doesn’t want his team targeted,” the source said.

Gosh, it’s almost as if Trump were in charge of a criminal enterprise.

A cop pulls Schrodinger over for speeding and a taillight problem, and after talking with him for a while asks him if he can look in the trunk. Shrodinger says sure.
After a few minutes the cop returns to the driver’s door and asks, “Did you know there’s a dead cat in your trunk?” to which Schrodinger replies, “I do now.”

100% agree that Trump is a unicorn. I’m just not convinced that another transgressive asshole celebrity might not be able to tap into the rube base from a different angle. And yes, Fucker Carlson is probably too dweebish to pull it off. But I really do suspect it’s going to be somebody from the fascist media world who makes the best attempt to reassemble the MAGAverse.

How about a massively successful act of espionage perpetrated by a nuclear-armed state that could destroy the entire world anytime it wanted to? Or as we call it here in the United States, just this thing we do.

I don’t know - seems like Act II in a cyber war, Act I having been the election of 2016.
