One bizarre paragraph in Hatch’sobituaryin the New York Times describes the senator as “a gentlemanly conservative rock” who also “blocked labor law reforms and fair housing bills with filibusters, tying up Senate business for weeks” and “voted against the Equal Rights Amendment, which would have enshrined gender equality as a bedrock civil right.”
None of what was written here was wrong, until the editorializing of the bolded statement at the end. An obit for a public figure shouldn’t include editorializing. NYT strikes again.
Explain to me why only voices like Randy Bishops are on radio? You rarely hear of a liberal radio voice, only haters like Bishop… Might it be because the radio networks are owned by guys just like Bishop?
Hatch was a primary architect of the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” of 2017 that created a $2.1 trillion a year hole in the federal budget. Hatch was particularly hot on getting tax cuts to the US real estate sector, the very sector that had played an oversized role in the global financial crisis of 2008. Now we see China’s real estate sector really stumbling in recent months, and with covid spread, threatening global financial markets. A financial crisis is harder for the US to deal with this time around as it is more indebted than in 2007 or even 2016, thanks to the GOP’s fiscal neutering of the government. While Orrin will miss the fireworks and explosions this time around, even after setting many of the charges personally, he will no doubt be viewing them from the third-class asteroid he’s been relegated to by Kolob management.
Perdue needs to ask Trump to bring his manhood in for bromeothopy, because he certainly can’t do it himself. How on earth Trump gets all these fools to do his bidding is worth studying. I am always thinking Trump is a fool, but then I think about how many GOP politicians he manipulates, I assume I must be wrong.
Hatch is dead? Good riddance! Kudos, Liz Warren. The only way to stop a conservative jihad is to stop them like any other jihad which attempts to tear down the liberal democracy created by our country’s founders.
ETA: Newt Gingrich should take Orin Hatch 's hint…
Let me fix that for you:
One bizarrely honest paragraph in Hatch’s obituary acknowledged how he spent decades voting against labor law reforms, fair housing bills, and voted against the Equal Rights Amendment.
There are fascinating times. The Republican Party has collective brain-freeze and can’t recall their actions (if any except a for a few members, but more on that in a bit) on Jan 6th, and those that do say it was all an over reaction owing to the emotion of the moment and doesn’t mean anything. When speaking, they don’t say anything factually relevant. They appear to be operating as if they are following the rule of 'omertà" rather than their oath of office to this Nation.
I’d go further–did the obit remember that he knowingly and deliberately lied about Thomas, rolling Joe Biden, while being fully aware that several additional witnesses were corroborating Anita Hill and being fully aware of Thomas’s video rental history?
